Just some talk on the Vexforum. As for who is the best in this competition. There is not a robot in this competition that could win it by its self. You need a well balanced alliance parter to round your alliance in order to do well.

doesn't it say in the rules that a team can only attend 3 regionals?

That's for sure. In Washington I only saw one robot totally dominate one match, and they didn't make into the finals due to an unfortunate incident. In a quarterfinal match, Captain Hook (417) managed to grab one goal, and push the paired goal against the side, trapping the final goal against the side. One of their opponents' robots was trapped sideways between two goals and couldn't move (they weren't pinned, it's just that they weren't strong enough to move the goals out of the way, and they couldn't drive under the bar between the paired goals.) Hook's alliance had also won autonomous. Thirty-eight points scored by 20 seconds into teleoperated, and their partner just spent the rest of the match blocking the open goals from the one robot on the opposing alliance that could move. It wasn't exciting, particularly, but it was awesome.

Only the first 3 count for awards (like Inspire or Think). A team can attend as many regionals as they like and win. If they win they still receive the winning alliance award.

It is very true that you need an good alliance partner because one team if defended can be beat but if you have 2 robots that are even and both can score on 24" then you have a better chance at winning. It does not mean though that one team can't just dominate by scoring all the points for the alliance but it means you need a back up plan just in case :)

So far we have done the following

Team Overdrive 74 - FTC 2007/2008:

Winners of Ohio FTC Championship and Inspire Award (First Place Alliance Captain)

Winners of Diamond State FTC Competition and Inspire Award (First Place Alliance)

Winners of New Jersey FTC Competition and Think Award (First Place Alliance Captain)

I had the privledge of seeing this team in action at the Diamond State FTC Competition and the New Jersey FTC Competition. They are outstanding in all aspects... from their efficently built machine to the team orgaization and cheering to community stuff.

Hopefully I can find time during the weekend to stop by the FTC section in Atlanta and see those cute lil vex robots :p Good luck to all FTC teams!!!

The field is Da Vinci with 2 division (Edison and Franklin) and is located between Newton and Archimedes

Re: FTC World Championships

Anyone else worried that they may have placed the fields too close together? Presumably there will be matches going on at the same time right? With the fields this close together I'm worried that people in the audience will get confused between announcers and fields. Also there is the crystal problem... I was expecting them to keep the fields far apart to minimize interference.

OR are they still only going to run one match at a time, just with four fields...

They will most likely be running 4 matches at a time and the fields will be far enough away from each other so you can see all the fields at once with little interference problems
