April Fool's Day 2008

Happy April Fool's Day everyone!

I was looking forward to the Google prank, and caught it pretty early on this year, Gmail Custom Time.

Gmail utilizes an e-flux capacitor to resolve issues of causality
Another funny one that I found was that xkcd leads to Questionable Content which leads to Dinosaur Comics which leads to xkcd. Since I'm on Spring Break I have no one to prank, but post away with the funnies that you guys come up with/run across today...

www.woot.com "Woot off" with the same item..
www.collegehumor.com forwards to a myspace saying a girls dad bought the site
www.xkcd.com has questionable content
http://www.questionablecontent.net/ has Dinosuar Comics
http://www.qwantz.com/ (Dino comics) has XKCD
www.myspace.com now offers "Applications" ...might be real?

That's all I've found so far. Yeah I know you mentioned the comics but I wanted to provide links. April fools day is more like easter for me, hunting for "eggs".

Found another:

http://www.okcupid.com/genetimatch.html OkCupi'ds "Matching people by DNA" kit

And another:

http://www.google.com/googlecalendar/new_wakeup.html Google Calendar "Wake up Kit"

3 so far for google

http://www.google.com/virgle/index.html Want to live on Mars? Sign up for "Virgle"

4 for google

http://www.google.com.au/intl/en/gday/index.html Search a day in advance :) Two time travels for google!

None yet...but 4th floor RA is glad he's not on duty today.

...Unless you count the one pulled by some guys on my Aero Design team a couple days ago. It was the equivalent of faking a frame break on the Saturday before ship. They almost gave 4 heart attacks apiece to 2 of the other team members...

Haha, I work at Barnes and Noble in Destin, FL. I'm going to have so much fun today. I'm mainly Customer Service/Cashier, so i'm going to have loads of fun with some customers. :)

Re: April Fool's Day 2008

Heh, on the diystompboxes forum (very much like ChiefDelphi with regards to the general helpfulness and demeanor of the users, but for people into making their own electric guitar effects) the admin made it so the word "tube" was replaced with "pipe", "mojo" with "wang", and "Muff" with "fluffy". For those who don't play guitar, a lot of players try to get vacuum tube-style overdrive sounds out of their pedals, mojo parts are parts with an almost mystical reputation for improving tone (specific brands and vintages of capacitors, for example), and the Big Muff Pi is a legendary distortion pedal. It was very funny to read threads about working on pipe amps, getting pipe sounds from your Big Fluffy Pi clone, and such. There was one unintended side effect though, all links to youtube changed to links to youpipe, which obviously didn't work very well.

Here's one our school district PR director came up with today. Nice touch using the team (as long as I don't get fired). ;)

It started out with actual, genuine errors .. but then, I figured since the forums were down already I'd scare a few people with the reason they were offline.

All of Youtube's "Featured Video's" were "Rick Astley-Never Gonna Give You Up" although they said different things.

There was VG cats today, which I caught right away, GameFaqs was a little wierd, all I found was the Poll of the Day, there was also Dr. McNinja, which you would only get if you've read the current story. And then there's X-Fire's site-wide game name changing that they must have set up several days in advance, because of it's scale.

I was going to use that, but I couldn't. I had it in one tab and didn't want to close what was in the other tab. Oh well, now to send it to a friend.

Please note: You can get out of it without Ctr-Alt-Del.

If you keep clicking the notification messages it gets to a message asking if you want to leave the page. Click yes, and you will leave the page....FOREVER.....until you send it to a friend.
