Re: Ramp Riot 2008: The Official Thread
Thanks to everyone that replied so far.
The field is set, the sound system is pumping and we are ready for Ramp Riot 2008. Please note that we are webcasting a Team 103 Controller Seminar and the event matches. Here is the link for both webcasts. http://www.ustream.tv/channel/ramp-riot-ix See you all in the morning. |
Re: Ramp Riot 2008: The Official Thread
Congratulations to all the teams who attended Ramp Riot 2008! You had some amazing matches out there and the energy you mustered on a rainy Saturday in November was flat out incredible.
I was the head referee today, and I fully expect that some people are not going to be happy about some of the calls, scores, and results of today's competition. Let me just say that without real-time scoring handhelds, Overdrive is probably the hardest game to officiate that FIRST has ever made. And with real-time (rather than static, end-of-game) scoring, discrepancies occur. Still, we did our best out there, and it was a pleasure to be a part of Ramp Riot 2008. Working with the incredible group of mentors, students, and volunteers at these events is truly inspirational - thank you to all who participated in making Ramp Riot one of the premier offseason competitions in the nation! |
Re: Ramp Riot 2008: The Official Thread
Congrads to all those who came and participated and the Winners of Ramp Riot '08. Like all the other events I volunteered at it was fun and exciting w/ a slight kick of Regionals in it :).
I'll be back next year :D |
Re: Ramp Riot 2008: The Official Thread
Had a great time, and it is still one of my overall favorite events to attend. Can't wait till next year! Good luck to all teams in 2009 ;)

Re: Ramp Riot 2008: The Official Thread
Thanks to 341 for hosting such an awesome event.
Thanks to 1727, 484, and 2528 for being such great alliance partners-without you, we never would have made it to the finals. I'm glad I got to come back to this event. The last event of Overdrive- and what a great way to play it out! 1923 had such a great time. See you again next year, hopefully! :) |
Re: Ramp Riot 2008: The Official Thread
Again, thank you to 341 for hosting such an awesome off season event. It was a great way to end the year.
Thanks to 25 and 103 for choosing us, it was awesome to have a chance to play in the finals. 303 is looking forward to the future for 2009, and we hope that this was a stepping stone towards a great season. We'll be there next year. |
Re: Ramp Riot 2008: The Official Thread
On behalf of MOE 365, I would like to thank Al Ostrow, all the 341 Daisy Volunteers, Rob Thate and Ron Karpinsky for putting on a great event. Thanks also to Team 103 for the Compact RIO presentation.
Thanks for Team 1403 for selecting us to go to elims and to Team 104 for completing our alliance. It was a great Overdrive season and like all other FIRST games, it is time to put it to bed and look forward to what is to come in January. Best of luck to all teams this season! |
Re: Ramp Riot 2008: The Official Thread
O, and Libby, sorry for pushing you into the wall in the last match, it's just our forks were about to break again and you were playing some really good defense. It definitely vented my anger. Thanks for being the punching bag!
See ya next year! |
Re: Ramp Riot 2008: The Official Thread
I had a TON of fun announcing at Ramp this year (I did the play by play in the morning and during eliminations....and some MC'ing in between :yikes:). This was my second time announcing at RR, and my second RR period, and I had a great time. Seeing everyone was amazing!!
Congratulations to the champions, finalists, and all the other eliminations alliances. We had one heck of an eliminations show!! (Hopefully) See everyone next year at Ramp Riot 2009, -DanDon |

Re: Ramp Riot 2008: The Official Thread
I just wanted to thank everyone that made Ramp Riot such a wonderful experience again this year. I will write back on Monday with an incredible list of volunteers, teams and companies that made Ramp Riot possible.
The event has grown so large that it would be impossible for Team 341 to do it alone. (When you see the list, you'll know what I mean.) Once again on behalf of the students, parents, and coaches we sincerely thank everyone that helped with Ramp Riot this year. I know I had a blast and we hope you did too.
