Agreed, Monty Madness was yet again a blast however I wasn't too pleased with how many teams that were showing spirit :-(. Only 2 Teams that I know of were cheering loud enough that you can hear them.

Oh and my bad for being so blah during Alliance Introductions... That was my first time doing it and I really wasn't prepped for it :-D... Next time I'll be ready I hope :o .

Congrats to all the teams that won awards! Great matches going at the end and dancing as well.

Thanks to all the volunteers that did a great job, especially Mr. High and Mr. Brooks who have worked hard for the past three Monty Madnesses.

And just want to put out there that all those that were in the audience, got RICK-ROLLED, courtesy of Spirit from Team 1403! We've been planning to sing that since the end of NY Regional, when we heard the song played at the Regional.

Thanks again guys for being there and keeping the excitement going!

Anyone have video of the event?

we were all rick-rolled multiple times! It was quite funny.

I had a fun time at Monty Madness game announcing. It was my first "full-time" gig. It was a pleasure working with Wayne P and Mike M out on the field!

Great job to 1403 and 75 for an excellent event!

Had a great time at my first Monty. Thanks to Wayne and Chris for letting me do some color commentary for them, and it most definately will not be my last time. Thanks to our great alliance partners 612 and 1403, we good run.

Hopefully this isn't the last time you see me at Monty.

My team was ranked #9, and not selected for eliminations. Normally this would get a team down, and it did- in fact, it caused a bit of tension between members of the team. So much so that a few of our students took the robot, while some of us were getting lunch, and decided to take it back to the school. Well, what do we know, 1923 is called into the eliminations as a backup, and we don't have a robot.

This is sounding like a pretty sad story, no?

Wrong. Team 103 was kind enough to lend us their practice 'bot in our time of need- in a match against their real robot! Their practice bot wasn't perfect, and when it broke, their drive team came over to the opposite side of the field to help us out in fixing it. One of their team members was even our drive coach during the matches! We ended up beating them, and making it to finals. That recognition gave us additional support from our school, and enabled 1923 to continue on into the 2008 season. 103 was excellent towards us, and we owe them- big time.

I wanted to post this not only because it was my all-time favorite moment of Monty, but as an additional thank you to 103 (It seems I can't say it enough).

I know for a fact our robot won't mysteriously 'leave' after alliance selections this year (it's a new 1923 rule: if there are matches being played, and team members want to play, the robot does not leave!), but I do hope that all the teams in attendance will show the same sportsmanship and true Gracious Professionalism this year, no matter what scenario should play out with a team.

I'm looking forward to Monty- I have this whole week off (until Thursday!) with nothing to do, except get psyched up. Can't wait!

p.s- 1403/75; if you need help with setup on thursday/friday night (I don't remember which night y'all did it last year, but I know I was there), I am here to help out! Send me a PM, or some of your team members have my cell number.

I agree, this is a great Monty moment. We are always here for anyone that needs help - no matter what. I had a lot of fun coach y'all, it was fun to coach team members that weren't on my team. And I believe that the keep the robot here at all times rule is in deed a good one.

I would like to give a big thanks to 271 and 284 for making awesome partners at Monty this year! Y'all made it fun. And congrats to all the teams that won awards this year. Also, I must applaud every team that came to Monty this year, it was tons of fun and a great competition. Also a BIG thank you to team 1403 for once again making Monty Madness an awesome off season event!

Cass :)

Re: 2008 Monty Madness!!!

Hey, thanks everyone for being so great on Saturday in Montgomery, NJ! It was our busiest Monty Madness ever with 40 teams participating. Although we had fallen behind schedule early on, we actually ended our celebration pretty much on time. That was awesome.

Many thanks to all of our volunteers, but some special thanks to our three-year veteran volunteers on the field and the queues: Pete K., Sarah N., Mike N., Liz S., Sarah R., Zubair C., Lea A., Conor R., Nick T, and John K. Of course Wayne Penn as always, was the consumate professional and star, while we enjoyed Mike Massa's start to a new career ;). And I cannot understate Chris Gregory's contribution to the event - he worked tirelessly and to impressive effect.

There are so many others who contributed to this event with over 128 volunteers having checked in on Saturday morning and working throughout the day. I apologize for not naming them individually, it is certainly not meant to reduce the significance of their contribution. Of course the Monty Madness Planning Team was instrumental, with Mr. Tim Leicht being key to greasing so many wheels in getting the entire event accomplished and Mary Kazan getting the food and other sales services organized and efficient. Also thank you to our partners, Team 75, who contributed their time, materials and volunteers in great numbers. A particular thank you to our new friend Debbie Simpson, a mentor for the RoboRaiders team.

While we don't have videos recorded this year as our we ran into technical difficulties just as the event began (and is why the webcast froze), we will have a seriously high number of still pictures from the event available soon online. We will let you know when they're "up".

If you have any feedback whatsoever about the event, good or bad, please let us know by emailing us at feedback@montymadness.org. Please forgive us if we don't reply immediately as we're all still in recovery mode, but we will do so eventually. Thanks again everyone!

I wouldn't call it a new career just yet however I will say it'll be something new that I put down for when registering at local events :p .... All I need is a little more training from Wayne and possibly a few others and I should be just fine....

It was fun be coached throughout the event by Wayne and a couple of teams :D. It is not as easy as it looks as I continously thought :p.
