my FIRST power drill
Alright, so everyone has seen that video they play at the beginning of each regional event (I think they played it at kickoff, too). Its the video that starts off very quietly saying
MY FIRST: Pet, steps, etc.... then some wicked cool music kicks in and it says MY FIRST: Power Drill, team shirt, venue, etc... I'm wondering where I can find that video. My team (229) wants to use this video at events like open houses and activities fairs. Any help is appreciated! Thanks! |

Re: my FIRST power drill
there is one incorrect saying on the video, at least I think, instead of "Your FIRST Cicuit Board" it should be "Your FIRST FRIED Circuit Board"
|
Re: my FIRST power drill
I think it should say something about your, "FIRST sleep deprived and homeworkless night!"

Re: my FIRST power drill
lol, our captain just pointed out to me that we're in the video at like 1:09-1:11
Never noticed that even after seeing it 6 times already. :p |
Re: my FIRST power drill
Hehe, the second "big kid" picture is of our drive team just before our robot fell over and the arm snapped, needless to say we were yelling and stuff on kickoff day!

Re: my FIRST power drill
Thanks for the idea dude. That is definitely the kind of quick movie we can use in demos. The video could just as easily have been edited to the song so you might want to email FIRST and see if they've got it. Probably not going to result in anything but its worth a shot.

Re: my FIRST power drill
Most likely, it's music that was purchased from a production music company that specializes in background music in ads and stuff. Some of it is public domain; don't know if this is.
You can't really put a name to the song, and it's probably not on iTunes, either. Catchy, though. |
Re: my FIRST power drill
Although the music they used last year is an actual song, I have heard it in a commercial.

Re: my FIRST power drill
I'd suggest looking through Freeplay Music to try to find the song from this video. They provide a lot of music for commercials and similar media, and I know at least one or two FRC game animations used music from Freeplay. All the music there is free to download for personal use, although if you must get licensing to use it for anything public.

About the music - It doesn't do much for me, but I'm an old fossil:). Pay attention to what will make a favorable impression on your audience, that's not necessarily what you personally enjoy the most.... Blake |
Re: my FIRST power drill
FIRST has an ok version of the video on their site, but does anyone have a higher quality version?
whenever i play the FIRST version, it's all pixelated... and makes for a REALLY bad impression... i mean, what kind of respectable engineer puts a pixelated video up for marketing purposes!!! If anyone has a higher quality version, please pm me, and we can figure out a way to transfer it. i think the highest quality i have is 340 / 480... and when i want to show it on an hd projector for a demo, it looks horrible. I KNOW there's an HD version out there, since it looked AMAZING at the competitions... If you have a high-res version, please pm me! I'd love to get a copy. thanks, -Z |

PS. I'm still looking for the music in this video. if anyone knows the title or artist please let me know, thanks. :) |
Re: my FIRST power drill
I'm pretty sure the videos they show on the big screen are in a DVD provided by FIRST along with the national anthems and the game video and such.

Re: my FIRST power drill
I was just wondering, as anybody else in the Michigan area seen the new Michigane Adventures commercial. I was wondering if i was crazy or if the background song is the same as the one in this vid.
