2008 Final Championship Divisions
FIRST told me they weren't certain an "official" communication would be forthcoming from them once they released the divisional information, so this may as well be the clearinghouse area as the "final" information is released.
It appears they have started the divisional assignment process per the overall list: Overall List: By Team Number: https://my.usfirst.org/myarea/index....P&sort=teamnum By Division: https://my.usfirst.org/myarea/index....&sort=division Championship Event Info: http://www.usfirst.org/community/frc...nt.aspx?id=432 Sorting order appears to be Archimedes, Curie, Newton, Galileo - repeat.... Disclaimer - It APPEARS these are valid, but wait until the official Divisional Team Lists appear on the Championship Event Info page at the link above to be 100% certain. |

Re: 2008 Final Championship Divisions
We're in Galileo. Wow, it's strong. Although neither of the rest look particularly shallow at a first glance either.
|
Re: DIVISIONS ARE UP!!!
Awesome! I have to look at that, and see who we'll be playing with/against.

Re: 2008 Final Championship Divisions
Does anyone know where all the division userbars are?

Re: 2008 Final Championship Divisions
OMG!!!
25, 40, 103, & 121 all in the same division! :ahh: That will be one to watch for sure! That division will either end strong, or cause a huge power struggle & go bezerk! |

Re: DIVISIONS ARE UP!!!
Galileo is STACKED
1114, 330, 217, 103, 254, 40, 25... and a great defensive bot, team 8 |
Re: 2008 Final Championship Divisions
Wow Galileo is stacked.
25, 40, 103, 121, 148, 217, 254, 330, 469, 1114, 1717. 1114 and 217, anyone? Edit: However... if past years has taught us anything, it's that the least likely division to yield the champions will do just that. |

Re: 2008 Final Championship Divisions
Archimedes: 987/1024 over 71/365
Curie: 16/67 over 33/118 Galileo: 25/103 over 217/1114 (or 254/330?) Newton: 233/968 over 111/175 Whoever wins Galileo wins it all. Somebody else joins Beatty in the multiple win club. You heard it here first. ;) |
Re: 2008 Final Championship Divisions
Wow! Here are all the Rochester, NY teams in Curie:
- 191 - 340 - 1126 - 1511 |

Re: 2008 Final Championship Divisions
There is absolutely no way to make any prediction right now. Galileo will be fun to watch. Every few matches will showcase an exciting team. Its a little more doubtful for 1114 now. There are so many combinations that could be unstoppable. I'm not saying Galileo will win though. Each other division also has a few good teams, that, if they got together could just as easily dominate.
Seed 6-8 in Galileo if you're a good team and man, your 2nd round choice is going to be fantastic. I think 148 is crying out with joy, because they are the perfect 2nd round bot. In such a stacked division, they will be a 2nd round pick, rather than in a weak division, a 1st rounder. |

We actually were all together in a match for an epic 138 score! As the Hawaiians would say.....Hana Hou! (One more time!):yikes: |
Re: 2008 Final Championship Divisions
Galileo def. looks like the strongest division.
O.o |
Re: 2008 Final Championship Divisions
That was pretty sweet. . .
Seems that people are forgetting that 2056 is in Newton, as well. They have been a dominating team this year, as well. |
Re: 2008 Final Championship Divisions
so... this is final?

This info is coming from the official FIRST team list, but until they post the team lists for each division to the "Championship Event Info" page, you can't consider it to be truly official. Knowing everyone's penchant to refresh the team list every five minutes around this time of year, it would be extreme folly for FIRST to populate the division column of the team list and let the entire world view it if they weren't 100% certain that information was final and valid. |
Re: 2008 Final Championship Divisions
Rochester is gonna ROCK Curie!!!

and didn't Newton end up winning the whole thing? |
Re: 2008 Final Championship Divisions
and newton was stacked the year before, and archimedes ended up taking it home. Its hard to pick against stacked divisions, but many times what happens is the super teams get broken up because of a 1st seeder thats not quite up to par with the rest. Decent team, with some decent luck = super alliance breaker uppers. But there may just be too many good teams to see this happen.
|
Re: 2008 Final Championship Divisions
Archimedes watchers should also look out for RUSH (27)
As for Curie last year... interesting things happened. |
Re: 2008 Final Championship Divisions
i think gali will have the best matches, but in the end, newton will win it.... as much as i hate to say that, all the key stats that i look at say that.... look in the OPR thread for more info

Re: 2008 Final Championship Divisions
Wow, for my first year going to Championships, this is looking to turn into an awesome time thanks to all of these amazing teams. Can't wait to see you all. Good luck everyone:]

Re: 2008 Final Championship Divisions
Ok we got some going earlier...but here's the question
Which 3 team alliance would you like to see represent your division on Einstein? A couple guidelines: 1) Of course we'd like to see our own team up there, but leave that to other people to decide. Vote for someone else, spread the love :p 2) Make them "Realistic". What I mean, we all know that 365, 1124, and 1024 aren't going to be on an alliance together (no offense to these teams...but there's no way that one of those three will be around for the second round). Any thoughts? |
Re: 2008 Final Championship Divisions
A 987/1124/66 alliance would be very, very scary. 365/1024, 27/71, and 365/525 would also be very strong combos.
EDIT: Above is for Archi. For Galileo, wow. This is almost impossible. As well as I'd think we'd complement most alliances as a third member, I'll refrain for now. Any combination of two of 1114/330/217/254/103/25/469/1717/195 scares me. And to think, it's likely we'll see 4 of those in the eliminations :O And, I haven't mentioned 121, 494, 70, 40, 1629, 343, 1540, ... Wow. What a division. If 148 is still around on the third round, it would make a valuable 3rd alliance member. 980 also showed they know what they're doing as a complement to two hurdlers, as did 84. |
Re: 2008 Final Championship Divisions
Don't want to be cocky and put up our own team George, but I honestly think a 1024/27/11 alliance is a possibility based on the consistency of our performance there.
Again, not to be cocky or anything. +$0.02 edit: I would also love to be allianced with 71 just so I could say that we were once alliance with the Beast. 555 and 816 are also both up there for 2nd round of selections. And I would obviously love to be part of an Exploding Bacon alliance :D |
Re: 2008 Final Championship Divisions
111,233,2056.........newton
|
Re: 2008 Final Championship Divisions
I know this is a pretty common prediction, but:
1114/217/148 |

i think were going to see some pink patriots coming out of the newton division...my research sems to say something diffrent though, it's telling me one of these two teams will head an alliance with 1625 and 1806 and they wil narowly win the division gali teams will be tested and beat up but yet the SimChicken's will emerge victorious. their alliance partner could be one of the following teams, 8, 384, 148, or 84... maybe even more teams, depends on if those teams in the "more" category are worrying less about their robot and more about their drivers. curie i don't want to sound mean here but this is by far the SOFTEST division of the four. i like 191 advancing though archie: all i can say is, watch out for the beast. i think they will be a very strong 2nd round steal come selection time. |

Archi: NO way 71 slips to the second round. They are top 4 in the division, with 27, 1024, and 1124 rounding out the other 4. Newton: 2056 is good. But not as good as everyone is making them out to be. I've got 7 teams better than them; 968, 233, 1625, 111, 175, 39, 20 Galileo: SimPoofs would be much better than SimChickens in my opinion. |
