I still haven't seen too many alliance predictions...

Who do you think will be representing Archie on the BIG STAGE?

We can't let those other divisions catch up to us!

1024's hot..but not sure how hot...

I think it's gonna be...., now note, i these results are based on over record, how well i think they are, and who i want to pwn. I will also back up my statements...:D

Team 1124 will rank number one. With a 217 like design, they have a very effective arm which led them to win the conneticut regional undefeated.

Team 1261 will join team 1124. Team 1261 will have a strong showing due to their improved hybrid and much improved forklift. They may rank top eight but will definitley manage a top 15 finish.

Then another SPEED robot will join them. Just purely to lap and defend.

Team 1124 may ask other robots depending on show...Team 1124 and tam 1261 can both be replaced by 1024, 1504, 27, or the bacon team. Have fun.

Hopefully, not hot enough to catch fire.

And guys... don't make random posts (as much fun ast it is to cheer, I know...) just to bump this thread's post count up.

It's non-CD-like, it's non GP, and particulatly un-patriotic. ;)

Let's win fair, square, and strong. It's not hard to do.
</public service announcement>

And anyways, there's tons of stuff to talk about, and options to discuss. Like... anyone interested in eating lunch together one of the days? Or if anyone's still awake/rarin to go after uncrating, maybe a bite to eat somewhere? (unrealistic at that time of day, but who knows).

Also, I know there was a thread about where people are staying in Atlanta... but I'd rather not look through it and sort out which teams are in our division and not.

We're staying in the Wyndham.

Here are some stats for the teams in the Archimedes division. Columns are sortable.

Wow, that's a great help...that must've taken sometime...

How do you guys account for matches that the blue alliance did not get???
Like in Peachtree regional, the blue alliance says that 1261 was 6-2 when we played 11 matches that day...?

It only grabs data from TheBlueAlliance. I'm not sure how they handle matches where scores were not entered (noted by ? on TBA's website). However I could do some tests to figure that out, and handle them as if you did not compete in that match (so that your win%, average score, etc are not affected.). Thanks for pointing that out!
Good luck in Atlanta! :)

1124 has a match average of 79.9. Not 107.

Re: Archi-medes!

:D

Yeah at first i saw 1124 and i was like..pfft..whateva...but then i took a closer look and then..dang..they have an easy ball grabber which will allow them to easily do whateva they want..should be interesting... Does anyone have videos from any of 1124's conneticut matches?

I wonder what the grounds will be to denying an alliance in world...do go with a great robot and then go to world...or do you try and be alliance captain and hope to pick a great robot and then be glorified as the alliance captains??? This should be good....

I don't know about a pure lapbot being the second pick. I would advise against it just because you're limiting your alliance's capabilities in eliminations. The third robot WILL be a hurdler as well as one that has shown significantly high scores in other regionals and has used top defensive strategies. Two of the best strategic teams are probably the eighth seed alliances that won regionals this year and also the other low seed teams that won because it shows the strength of their strategy and driver capabilities, not to mention how well they work with other teams.

In reference to this thread.

Team 476 is bringing Oklahoma Hospitality to Atlanta (and hopefully not the OKlahoma weather)

I love this thread--Keep the spirit going. I can't wait to meet all of you. Are you all going to attend the web hug on Thursday at noon?

Has anyone collected data on how many Regional Champs, Chairmans' etc are coming to our field?

here you go--lets rock it

Re: Archi-medes!

Well...i guess if ur third pick is a mix of a fast/hurdle/good drivers....if you have a dominant alliance, purely hypothetical, of 1114, 217, and 1124, then the balls get launched over at an incredible rate. In one lap 1124 may hurdle and then 217 will pick up the ball on the other side of the hurdle and then 1124 will proceed to do a lap...

But that's only like super domination and an amazing feet hoping that non of those robots get pick and like the odds are slim...but when you have a number one seeded alliance, with two good hurdlers, you want to look for a bot which will keep out of your way, defend, and make good time on laps.

Have three bot which will hurdle is HIGHLY unlikely...but having one lap/defend...i would suggest it.

Not really...going through the teams in Archie, I've found many good hurdlers who can also speed around the field. Trust me, there will be no shortage of good hurdlers for each alliance. I still highly recommend have 3 hurdlers and the 3rd hurdler being a strong defender with a fast drive train (yes that is a contradictory argument but the type of defense being played this year is not in terms of brute pushing force).

btw, the point of the 3rd hurdler is not that all three will get to hurdle, its merely the fact that if needed under certain circumstances, the main or secondary hurdler can switch strategic positions with the 3rd hurdler/lapper if the first hurdler's mechanism dies or something.
