Watching game tapes DEFINITELY helps... you can discover all kinds of little things that you can use to improve your differential score.

For instance... our gripper used to be slow on the up/down, so, if you could keep the ball rolling we'd have to follow it for a while. Now, it takes about 0.75sec for the ball to go from the pickup to the shoot position.

...On that note, watching game tapes of yourselves can help you identify critical points of your own gameplay you can improve on or help to minimize the chances of another team capitalizing on a specific characteristic of your robot to their advantage.

Yeah, we watched most of our tapes over an over again to see how we can be better. Also good scouters can be a BIG help.

The point of my post was not to say that I don't think that they can't be beaten it was just to answer the question of are we thought of as the underdog division.

I personally think we have good enough robots to easily beat a hypothetical 1114/217 alliance if we develop and follow a good strategy that employs a lot of defense and we hurdle like mad. I watched one of the thunderchickens matches where they had defense played on them and they did not score many hurdles at all. They are without a doubt beatable. 1114 is the same way. If you keep the balls away from them obviously they can't score that many points.

I definitely feel that Archimedes can take the championship and I really hope 1771 can be a part of bringing home the world championship. We have made the necessary improvements to our robot to make it easily competitive with the best in the world.

We're the same way. We're a good hurdler but our biggest issue is keeping the ball. If our pressure is too low or too high we will not be able to pick it up and hold it securely. And if we are even tapped wrong we can drop the ball. Luckily I've designed and built something to fix this ;)

I know 2 offensive robots and a defensive robot is the perfect alliance. But how that alliance is made up is nomans knowledge, but I can tell you that's the einstien winner's alliance makeup.

I personnaly think that 2 offensive bots and a (Jack of all trade) bots will be best. I.E. while the offensive bots hurdle they run laps and play D but if the offensive bot becomes immobile for any reason (Mech Problems, Defense.....) then the 3rd bot picks up the slack. I know there will be many, many decent hurdlers left after the first round picks and I wouldn't hesitate to pick on up for a 2nd pick if I were picking.

Hehe doesn't hurt to have 33 on your team either. The Killer Bees are one of my top 5 this year, but that was some great defensive play by your part.

Re: Archi-medes!

Luckily for us holding the ball is one of our strong points. There is no way for us to lose the ball after we acquire it since we're holding it with over 400lbs of suction force.

Our main weakness was the time it took us to get the balls off the overpass. Before we had to use our arm which took around 10 seconds per ball and put us in danger of getting stuck on the overpass but know we have built a device that allows us to remove the ball just by driving under the overpass.

I do think the winning alliance will probably be 2 offensive and 1 defensive bot however I think the defensive bot will have to be able to hurdle in case one of the offensive bots breaks in the eliminations.

That's like this years story for my team. The first regional we were an offensive robot, and picked as one too. When we got to GLR we took a more defensive stance and we got picked as a defensive robot that can also hurdle if it has to and knock balls down. We didn't win because of a mechanical problem that left us weak. But we were still amazing out there, but 217 was better (before they broke down)...

Yeah 33 is a really cool team that has an amazing robot. To honor them I will be wearing their little antenna on my glasses at Atlanta. They were one of the best there obviously, while we were ranked 43rd (higher possibly, we were there at one point) coming into the alliance selections (defense does not always make a good offense if everyone is playing it...)

Don't worry, you'll get it! I'm also going to bring some ÜberBots wristbands to the webhug.
