Re: Archi-medes!

As base driver for team 201 I would like to thank teams 292 and 41 for selecting us based on our defenseive abilities. It was a lot of fun working with you guys and even though we couldn't pull of the upset we gave them a run for their money. I can honestly say that our the QF was the most exciting QF I have seen or been a part of for that matter.

Next I would like to say congrats to teams 1124, 1024, and 177 for winning the division. You guys had a great alliance and right when the selections ended I had a feeling that you would be the alliance to make it to the finals.

Next I want to thank our opponents 27, 525, and 93. You guys had a great team and it was very fun playing against you guys even though we couldn't pull off the upset.

27-I can honestly say that you were my favorite robot and I liked you design very much. Its unfortunate that you guys had to go out like that with problems with your robot.

Sadly this was my Senior year on team 201 and I am off to college next year so I want to wish everyone the best of luck with FIRST in their years to come.

I have to say, 201's alliance is by far one of the best examples of teamwork that I have ever seen in my life.. not just in FIRST. That took a tremendous amount of leadership to face 525's alliance but you guys did totally pwn. In all honesty, I wanted to give you guys an award that said something like "PInnacle of Teamwork Award"

You guys rocked and we hope to see you again next year.

Many people don't realize 2166 is one of the teams that 1114 mentors and has very silimlar drive systems; great autonomous, fast, tough defense. I did not know much about your team before but after meeting your mentors and students and running a couple of matches together, I saw a well run team and understand how you got to be #1 seed.

We had a great time with you guys but it was too short. We definitely had enough horsepower to go farther. Unfortunately, we (71) had two uncharacteristic bad rounds in a row; an arm that broke off and a human miscue in hybrid ended the run. At that level of competition, you have to execute perfectly to win. I hope we get a chance in the future to run again with you and do a better job of it. Thanks again for the ride.

Are you applying for IRI? I hope so.

Brian Beatty

Thank you to you guys too. It was an amazing time running with the BEAST.

I actually don't know if we are going to IRI. I dont think we ever have gone but it sounds awesome. We usually go to PARC and Monty Madness and Brunswick Eruption.

Thank you so much! Our drive team greatly appreciates the compliment, I'm sure. Seriously the most intense quarterfinal I've ever seen in my life.

Ellen of 1124, I apologize for that inaccurate bit of information regarding that 177 story. I guess I was too excited about getting picked that I didn't realize who was talking down there!:D

Like Gordo, I'm off to college too next year. But the FEDS will be back next year, this I can assure you.

No problem, "great teams with great accomplishments deserve to be recognized" is what MORT always says.

On behalf of the Team 525 Swartdogs, I want to thank all the teams we were allied with during our qualifying matches. There were several really great matches against tough opponents where we succeeded together.

Thanks to Team 27 RUSH for joining us in the Archimedes eliminations. Your hybrid mode and hurdling ability were awesome. Congratulations on receiving the Motorola Quality Award.
We were proud to wear the buttons in memory of John Lafata. I'm sure he is missed.
We were very happy to be able to ask Team 93 N.E.W. Apple Corps to join us on Saturday afternoon. We worked well together in Minnesota so we knew we would here also.
Our alliance had some exciting close matches through the quarter and semi finals but unfortunately we could not get enough points scored to go to the finals.
Congratulations to 1124, 1024, & 177. You performed well on Einstein.

Thanks also to the volunteer crew and referees on the Archimedes field and in the pits. You put in a lot of effort to provide a great experience for the teams and we truly appreciate what you do.

I along with the rest of the Swartdogs are looking forward to next year and the challenges we will encounter.

Thanks you to ARCHIMEDES and everyone who supported our TRULY SUCKY ROBOT .. thanks to MORT We also would have loved to have had the opportunity to work with your team in the Georgia Dome... However, driving against you and the entire # 1 alliance 71, 11, 2166 was immensely fun aswell... (I am the base driver for 1771) I figured that if I could maneuver enough hurdles/points out of our robot that we would have had a good chance to cause and upset for the match. I hope those two Quarter final matches will show up on thebluealliance.net some time ... They were some amazing matches in my opinion. Very fun.

Unfortunately this was my last year of eligibility for driving the robot :p (graduating senior) Ending the season in the quarter finals of nationals was really fun though :D

I am looking forward to next year’s challenge and all our off season excitement and the eventual Georgia Dome 2009 showdown. I guess I will have to train a new driver to take my place … MENTOR FTW … lol
:D :D

You can still drive next year. If you technically read the rules there is an age limit which is 19.

Which rule would that be? Driver and HP/RoboCoach are limited to "pre-college students".

I think I may have finally recovered enough to type.

Thanks to all the really great teams we met and played with this year. I wish I had more time in the pits but it was fun to meet Smurfgirl, Qbranch and the FRO. Thanks for my chocolates Warrior Pride.

Big CONGRATS to MIKE T WALKER and the Archimedes crew for running the field so well that they were chosen to run Einstein. Now if they could only run the closing ceremonies it might run on time.

Thanks to the FEDs for putting our piggy on the robot. It was fun to watch.
I'm sure I missing alot but thats all I can think of right now.

Archimedes was super fun this year even for teams who got knocked out like us. I'd like to thank any teams who were partnered with us throughout the day. And a special thanks to 386 for working with us and to 555 for helping us as well (hint to 555, don't forget to tell the alliance captain that your bot is in the crate). Also sorry to anyone who I said I would meet up with, I was plagued with a Fever and Throat issues throughout the weekend and really didn't have much energy to do anything except go out to matches. Anyone try to be an alliance captain when you're half awake, it's not one of my fonder memories of FIRST. LOL

Hey no problem, it was really cool to have it on the robot. I think it actually made us better on the field. We need another one for next years robot when the time comes around.

Nice to meet you too Wendymom. And, I'm glad to hear you all did get your team award from us.

Sorry we couldn't present it personally... we went by your pits once when we distributed the other awards... nobody was there.

Then we got into the finals, and I guess we never had a chance to come by and find you guys in your pits again. :o

Congratulations on being Team 1024's Most Spirited Team award recipient!

OINK OINK BOOM! :D
