Team 100; After seven years in San Jose and this year in Portland, it was so great to finally play with your team in the eliminations! Over the years we would see your team with the orange hats at the San Jose Regional but we never got to play with you until now. Your team performed so well at Portland and to see your team get better and better made me glad we were allied with you! Team 2171; Unfortunately our team was not able to play with any of the teams in the 2000's. However, due to us finally getting a scouting team up to Atlanta, they were able to see that your team could perform and you guys definitely did! Your team knew what needed to be done and your team number was definitely not indicative of your ability! Hope to see you all at the 2009 Hawaii Regional!! ;) |

Re: Curie Division 2008
Hello all,
This is a thank you to all the teams who helped out 418 during the competition on Curie. Gabe posted in CD on Friday night, offering some type of explanation as he knew it at the time. There were many helping hands in the 418 pit, trying to get the robot back on the track and we thank you. I know of help from 1511, 16, and 111. If there are any other teams that sent members over to offer help, please let us know. LASA Robotics is a quiet team. We work hard and help support others when we can. We have been around in the Central Texas area for several years and we hope that teams know they can count on our help and friendship. We are not used to needing help and support, ourselves, and the outpouring of offers from all the teams was humbling and overwhelming. It was not the competition that we had hoped for but, it was the competition that we had, and we learned many valuable lessons from it, individually and as a team. Another thank you goes out to Mark Leon. I was in the stands and watched matches as our team came out without a robot and stood in the drivers' station with their alliance partners. When our robot was back on the field again, Mark Leon took the team flag offered from our coach, Tony Bertucci, and waved it around during the introductions of the teams. Then he went and stood on the side and waved the flag some more for what, to me, seemed just a little longer than he normally does. Whether he meant to or not, he was supporting 418 on the field, and also in stands, during a pretty tough time at the Championship. Thank you for that, Mark. Little things like waving a flag can mean a lot sometimes. Curie absolutely rocked! All the way to Einstein. :) Jane |
