The "never bet against Beatty" philosophy is true for the Killer Bees as well. They are always an excellent and very professional team. Especially when the pressure is on. The harder the competition gets, the better they get.

The whole overrated/underrated debate depends on who your talking to. If someone thinks 33 is the best team this year (better than 1114), then yeah, they are probably overrated. If you talk to someone who thinks they are just good, then they are probably underrated. I think 33 can hold thier own against anyone in Curie and wouldn't be surprised at all if they get to Einstien.

Yeah totally my fault, that post was decently ealier for me :)

Yes as to go from what XaulZan11 said, i never said that 33 was the best team out there.. They come in year after year with good machines and if i see them on the alliance wall across from me, i am already scared on the pure expirence of the team

This is our first time at the Finals. We intend to sneak under the radar and be there in the eliminations before anyone realizes it. We're not called Stealth for nothing.:)

Im curious to see not so much to see which teams make it to the finals, but rather which kind of robots. To go back to the arm vs. launcher debate, we have a bunch of good arms, and a bunch of good launcher, it'll be interesting to see how this division goes, two arms, two launchers, or one of each.

I by no means meant to imply that you guys aren't a top tier team, I have a lot of respect for how your team comes out with great robots each year. I just think that a lot of people exaggerate how good some of the 'veteran' teams are without knowing their status. Their are certain teams that I think get over rated by others just because of previous performance and not because of true ability and results. A lot of these teams I have a lot of respect for, I just think that they get good press for the wrong reasons.

We're staying at the Hilton (Garden Inn to be exact)!

I approve of partying :D If you guys bring Laptops you could come join our Armagetron Lan party.

Or we could scout...

Who else from Curie is staying at the Hilton?

418 has been here since mid-morning. We've toured Georgia Tech, eaten at the Varsity, driven by the Dome, and are waiting to get into our rooms.

The azaleas are in full bloom as are the dogwoods. It is gorgeous here, blue blue skies. Chilly for folks like me. A light jacket will be nice to have.

As you look around at the buildings, you can see the damage/windows/plywood coverings. Its impact is significant. Kudos to everyone who has worked in helping the Championship happen.

Atlanta is awesome!

We called one of our '04 alumni who is a senior there, and he met us and went to the Varsity with us. It was great! He'll be volunteering Saturday so we'll get to see him again. He volunteered at Peachtree and filled me in on that exciting and incredible experience and also, about the tornado. whew!

There is a list of matches on usfirst.org specifically, this link, you can see today's results, tomorrows matches, awards, etc.

Also, I would like to thank all the wonderful teams that I have meet, who my team has been paired with, and I would also like to wish all the teams GREAT luck for the rest of the comptition and for off-season this year!

Big thanks to team 368 for picking us! :D It was fun playing with you guys for once!

Also thanks to team 2171 for rounding out our alliance. You guys were awesome!

I'd also like to thank 67 for the cool award they gave us, and for helping us set a record score on Curie (154 points without penalties). It was by far the most exciting match of our season.

You did a terrific job representing Curie on Einstein!

Thank you 368 for picking our 2nd year team, team 2171, to work with you and team 100. Thanks for the great hats 100. We made a great run but got beat by a great winning alliance, which did great in the finals. Thanks for giving a team in the 2000's a chance to run with you guys.

During the qualifications, it seemed they paired all the low numbered teams together and we never got to compete with any team numbers below 1000.

As one of the team mentors for our team, this was a great learning experience. Thanks to our teachers and other mentors and parents and to Team Hammond, Team 71, for their help and mentoring.

My heart was beating so fast when i was watching that match

I really recommended you guyz to watch that match

Be perpared for team 2337 to destory the other teams the next year

And a special thanks to SolidWorks, Eduware, Foster-Miller and CADNexus for there sponsorship the week before the event.

Thanks to Teams 67, HOT, and 16, Baxter's Bomb Squad, for choosing us in their alliance.

Thanks to Team 375, Robotic Plaque for lending us their batteries and charging station

Thanks to Team 33, Killer Bees, for lending us their backup battery.

Thanks to Dan Hoizner of Team 395, 2Train Robotics, for his help during our Finals Run.

Thanks to Shaun of Team 25, Raider Robotics, Raile of Team 375, Robotic Plaque, and Raul of Team 111, WildStang for Strategy assistance.

And of course to our team mentors, Herm, Kwol, Browne, Nycz, Wayne Penn, Nestor, Lovell, Forti and countless others who worked countless hours for the students.

With out all of the help from above, Team 348 would not have done as well.

We would also like to congratulate Teams 1114, 217 and 148 for the Championship Win.

Wow. What an event. Looking at the going in Stats, everybody thought Curie was soft (including myself). After this weekend, I can definitely say I was proven wrong.
Congratulations to 67, 16, 348. You guys did a fantastic job and made the division proud by getting second.
Content edited due to inaccuracy thanks.

To our alliance thanks for a great job. When you put up 130 points and still loose, that is a loss you can still be proud of.
2337- Thank you so much for picking us. You guys have had an amazing season and I hope you continue to come back with strong robots and a strong team.
45- We were so excited to get to play with you guys. Hopefully we get the chance again at IRI.

Thank you to the Bees. It was fantastic to be able to team up with you, after playing against you at West Michigan. You were great partners.

Team 45, you guys were awesome. Hope we get a chance to do it again in the future.

And to EVERY team who competed on Curie, THANK YOU for making our rookie year one that none of us will ever forget. Every team should be congratulated on a great season. Everybody is a winner with FIRST.

Now ... what is the date for the 2009 Kickoff?? :D

Actually...100, 368, and 2171 were the Finalists on Curie.

A couple of thank you's....

Cody, Nick, Ken, Jim, Ethan, Nick, and Paul...excellent job staying calm and focused the entire eliminations. Scouting team - your excellent data made it much easier to form the top 24. Teachers, Parents, and Mentors great job keeping everything running smoothly.

16 - Awesome job this weekend, way to stick with it the entire time. It seemed something wasn't quite right on Friday with the machine, but you guys worked hard and found that radio problem. I know Jim and Ken kept telling me to watch for 16 on Saturday....you quickly climped my list Saturday morning. You guys carried us early in the Curie eliminations. Excellent job root causing the issues during the Semi's on Einstien.

348 - Your performances during qualifying matches showed you could play effective D and score huge points for us in Hybrid mode. You guys performed flawlessly in Curie and on Einstien. Wayne had an effective strategy of making sure he talked to me everytime (I think) I walked into the pits...It made me take notice every match you were in.

We almost beat the 'Ultimate Alliance'! :yikes:

Thanks to the mentors from 111, 375, and 25 that helped with strategy and scouting from the other fields.

2337 - Hopefully there are no hard feelings we declined. You guys built an excellent machine. We just usually prefer to lead our own alliance when we have the oppertunity.

1126, 100, 33....etc, you all had excellent robots and we would have been happy to play with any of you. Funny thing is that everyone was so close that we wrote mulitple teams on our board and showed Cody on the field, before we decided on the Bomb Squad.....the tipping point was a dream that our coach had Friday night, that we would win with Baxter

Excellent job all weekend. I think we proved Curie Division can hang with any of the other fields this weekend.

You are most welcome. Thanks for your support during the finals matches. Both 1126 and 1511 had fantastic autonomous modes, an area which kind of fell apart for us at Nats due to some drive train troubles. See you next year!

Team 2337, you guys did amazing. I can't wait to see how well you do next season.

Team 33, every one of us was psyched to play with you guys. There must've been 5 or 6 of us sporting Killer Bees t-shirts on the bus ride home.

We were sweating when no one had picked us near the end of alliance selection. And when we heard you guys say "Team 45", all of us were on our feet. We couldn't have asked for a better alliance to play with. You were both near the top of our list for picks had we seeded in the top 8. But seriously, you guys were awesome. Can't wait for IRI.

Team 100; After seven years in San Jose and this year in Portland, it was so great to finally play with your team in the eliminations! Over the years we would see your team with the orange hats at the San Jose Regional but we never got to play with you until now. Your team performed so well at Portland and to see your team get better and better made me glad we were allied with you!

Team 2171; Unfortunately our team was not able to play with any of the teams in the 2000's. However, due to us finally getting a scouting team up to Atlanta, they were able to see that your team could perform and you guys definitely did! Your team knew what needed to be done and your team number was definitely not indicative of your ability!

Hope to see you all at the 2009 Hawaii Regional!! ;)

Re: Curie Division 2008

Hello all,

This is a thank you to all the teams who helped out 418 during the competition on Curie. Gabe posted in CD on Friday night, offering some type of explanation as he knew it at the time. There were many helping hands in the 418 pit, trying to get the robot back on the track and we thank you. I know of help from 1511, 16, and 111. If there are any other teams that sent members over to offer help, please let us know.

LASA Robotics is a quiet team. We work hard and help support others when we can. We have been around in the Central Texas area for several years and we hope that teams know they can count on our help and friendship. We are not used to needing help and support, ourselves, and the outpouring of offers from all the teams was humbling and overwhelming. It was not the competition that we had hoped for but, it was the competition that we had, and we learned many valuable lessons from it, individually and as a team.

Another thank you goes out to Mark Leon. I was in the stands and watched matches as our team came out without a robot and stood in the drivers' station with their alliance partners. When our robot was back on the field again, Mark Leon took the team flag offered from our coach, Tony Bertucci, and waved it around during the introductions of the teams. Then he went and stood on the side and waved the flag some more for what, to me, seemed just a little longer than he normally does. Whether he meant to or not, he was supporting 418 on the field, and also in stands, during a pretty tough time at the Championship. Thank you for that, Mark. Little things like waving a flag can mean a lot sometimes.

Curie absolutely rocked! All the way to Einstein. :)
Jane
