Re: Curie Division 2008

1025 is happy to be competing on Curie this year. The Michigan teams got split up almost equally among the divisions. So while we'll be looking forward to seeing some old acquaintences, we are also looking forward to making new alliances from around the country and world.

IMPI Robotics is a new team formed after the 2007 season. We operate out of Ferndale HS, and have veteran members from inactive teams, as well as rookie members. We also are privileged to be allied with Trophy Robotics of South Africa (RSA) who make up part of our team. Seven of our members are from RSA and have travelled to join us this week, and will be in Atlanta. Stop by our pit to meet us (look for the flaming tiki torches) or visit our scouts in the stands (royal blue shirts).

Ok, so everyone who is in the Curie Division, I have a challenge for all of you. The TechnoKats have started a new tradition this year and we call it a Moses Cheer. The RoboCoach (me or the other driver) before every match will hold his hands high to the sky as everyone cheers, then he will lower them. At this time everyone is to get completely silent. He will then raise and lower them at different heights showing how loud for everyone to cheer. There will also be special hand signals given out so that special things can be cheered. So my challenge to you is to make sure that your entire team in the stands know about this so that everyone will get into it. It is really fun with everybody doing it at the same time.

I'm sure that Rolling Thunder will totally get into this! And I can see a few modifications to our standard cheers...

"Roll-ing Thun-der clap clap clapclapclap" will joined with "Ma-rie Cur-ie clap clap clapclapclap!"

"I believe that Robots Rock!" will include a periodic "I believe that Curie Rocks!"

I am so packing my ear-plugs! :ahh:

It will be good seeing you Mr. Voshol, I haven't gotten to see any of the team since you guys made the transition from 1188 to 1025. My dad was crushed when I told him you guys changed teams because he was wearing a Oaktown Crewz polo at the time.

No problem. Some of those teams over on Galileo and Archimedes may be able to hear us as well. :D

Well, this might be alittle scouting, but it would be nice if somteams sumed up their season and what they wer egood at.. it would probably benfit all teams in the hard day of scoutingif they could skip acouple of teams that gave some good infomation...

Hmmm, that is a fairly good idea, however, it's a lot easier to imagine what a robot can do when you actually see it in person, especially in action.

If I tried to describe my robot, it'd take forever. And none of the scouters on my team are on CD xD

Thats pretty funny.. Maybe you can give a genral what does it do!! Or one of the great qualities it has for example...

We generally get 4-5 lines in hybrid and an ball once in a while..

If our driver is on (ME) we probably could get 3 or more hurdles...

Also as a FYI we were the Great Lakes Reginoal Champs with 67 who is also in the divison and 503.

I don't think I need to describe our robot to you man (you've seen it plenty already!) However, I can give a basic description for all the other fine individuals who are interested. Well, maybe later at least, I'm currently preoccupied with homework.

Hey everyone,
This is team 1599 and we are so thrilled to be going to the nationals in Atlanta. I was wondering if you could give us any tips about the competition and what goes on. Its our first time going so we are all a little nervous. If you have any tips or just want to get to know us just e-mail me back. I would love to get to know everyone. See you at competition!!!

Umm Our robot also can do 4 to 5 lines in auton, and it has gotten a ball down once. We usually get 4 hurdles and a place at the end. It is also bright yellow and that's pretty cool I guess
