LETS GO CAPS!! I thought about going but decided to save the money for ATL. I got kinda scared when Alex didn't have any shots on goal through the first 2 periods, but he came through.
|
Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
I'm not much of a hockey fan, but as a former Montrealer I am of course cheering for the Habs. Poor Bruins - I think the Canadiens have beaten them 11 times in a row, now.
|
Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
You know what I'm not happy about?
My sister got 2 free tickets for the Sharks on Thursday! And I'm gonna be in Atlanta... :( |

Yeah, I saw that on VS when they were just figuring it was in the leg or something he could just walk off. Bad times for him. Go Sharks! |

Even though the one PP goal was pretty cheap. A man hurt on the ice and play wasn't called dead? Pretty gay. I think if he outs steve downie is be playing next game and that might get ugly.

Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
Roho. I would love to see the Devils get past the first round. However, doesnt seem like it will happen.
|
Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
I'm cheering on the Avs...man, I wasn't sure how it was going to be against the Wild, but just wow, OT on both games:ahh: and man Sakic in the first game!...I'm hoping for the Avs tomorrow! woo-hoo I'm excited, they'll be back in their hometown.:D
|
Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
Brilliant game last night for the Devils... Madden's centering try going off Stahl's skate and past Lunqvist...absolutely brilliant...:D!
(hope I spelled/got all those names right- particularly Lundqvist) |
Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
I like how NO ONE int he thread said anything about DET....

Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
Three games. Three trips to overtime. 2 - 1 series lead for Minnesota. The Avs-Wild series may be the best I've ever seen (at least so far). Great play and goal-tending by both teams so far in the series.

Go Flyers! Their up 2-1 in their series against the Capitals.
Anyone else see Ovechkin take that dive in game three. |
Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
Go Wild!
|
Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
I'm a Hurricane's fan... so theres nothing for me to be excited about :(
Aunt Bee really wants that big sliver BBQ serving bowl back! :P |
Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
So Sean still excited to see Colarado Vs. Washington. Because I think the flyers might take the series

As for the hopeful Avs-Wings series, I'd love to see that too. That rivalry hasn't quite been the same the last couple years, and I'd love to see it renewed, especially now that all the old Avs stars are back and playing well. Of course we know that Colorado will take it in the end, but it's always fun to watch. ;) Unrelated side note, I'd love for more and better national coverage of games. Although I get Versus here, local games are covered by comcast (and Versus isn't allowed to some them). This means that I have to endure the pro-Flyers commentary rather than the closer to unbiased coverage of a nationally-broadcasted game (on NBC or Versus). I'm not saying CSN shouldn't also be able to cover them too, but it shouldn't have to be exclusive. |
Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
Man, last night's Avs-Wild game was intense....yay Avs!! Theodore was just amazing on his saves and starting out with a different line-up it all quite interesting...still waiting on Stasny's first playoff goal though...hopefully tomorrow night:D
|
Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
:D WOOOO!! YAY AVs Advance!!! :D
Sunday night looks to be a real clincher for the rest of the western conference, it's going to be interesting... |
Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
Go Red Wings!
I hope San Jose wins so the Wings can play the Avs. Hopefully the rivalry can be renewed. |
Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
Detroit vs. Colorado.
Time to dust off the old rivalry, let's do this. *cracks knuckles* Sakic, Forsberg, Hejduk, and Foote vs. Lidstrom, Chelios, LET'S GO AVS! |
Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
Man, I'm excited for the Wings vs. Avs series, Theodore's been saving goals like mad...it's going to be awesome:D
|
Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
Now lets be serious. Anyone watching the flyers game knows the flyers got robbed no doubt.

Flyers is the kinda team that good players start out on when they don't know better. And good players end at when the bums forgot what they knew. :yikes: |
Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
So... the Stanley Cup Finals are set:
Eastern Conference: [Pittsburgh] Penguins beat the [Philadelphia] Flyers 4 games to 1. (I find that rather nice... I should write my school board...) Western Conference: [Detroit] Red Wings beat the [Dallas] Stars (finally) after a 4-1 Victory tonight in Dallas, winning the series 4-2. *end neutrality here* GO WINGS!!! ![]() It's been 10 years since we won a second straight, it would be nice to win #4 out of 11 years!!! |
Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
Renewing my "anybody but Detroit" mentality...
LET'S GO PENGUINS |

*shakes head* LET'S GO RED WINGS *clapclapclapclapclap* |
Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
Looking forward to a great finals with Detroit vs Pittsburgh.
I tried to get finals tickets today for any game in Detroit but came up empty. Anybody that has 3 available for game 1 or 2 at a "reasonable" price let me know. I was planning on driving my 2 Wings fans from Georgia to the "Joe". Dave |
Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
Even though I have a hidden hatred brewing for next year's Stanley playoffs if my Stars return to a series with Detroit, I'm going to have to back up the Western Conference and stand with the Red Wings. Take it home, Ozzy!
Good luck boys! |
Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
First off I'm totally bummed that Carolina is playing golf already!
That and I'm sure the price for my box is going to go up again for next season. Me and Aunt Bee want that BBQ dish back! So we have the Wings vs the Pens... reminds me of the elections.... :( Anyhow... enough sitting on the fence. GO PENS! -p:cool: |
Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
go wings!!!
|
Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
Red Wings will bring it home, complete with octopi (octopuses??)!!!
|
Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
Let's Go Detroit!
Pitts Has NOTHING!!!!;) |
Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
I can't wait until the Red Wings have only one game left to win the cup, so that I can comment about how the Penguins are getting 'Desperate'...
If you don't get it, check out Beth's team name... |
Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
Red Wings in 3. The Penguins are going to quit. :p
Seriously though, while the Penguins have the energy, we have the depth in our defense, and it'll be that depth that gets us the Cup. LET'S GO, RED WINGS! |

This time around however... you live pretty darn close to the team you predict to win... :D Sorry dude, Wings reach apparent victory in 3, and enjoy game 4 (or 5) with some fabulous show, obtaining victory. (Then again, this is bias on my end... :p) |

Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
Whalers in 4
|
Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
Penguins will win! I'm from colorado so I have to root for them, it's just the natural order of life...:p
Really- Round 1:detroit up 2-0 in series and the 8th seed (Nashville) comes back and wins 2 Round 2:Moving on... Round 3:Wings blow a 3-0 lead and allow Stars to come back and win 2 games. (WOOHOOO Turco!!) Round 4: If detroit stuters for a moment then Crosby (4 goals and 17 assists!!) and the Penguins will rip Osgood apart. Of course it can go either way, Detroit has Zetterberg (12 goals and 10 assists) Franzen (12 goals and 3 assists) and Datsyuk (9goals and 10 assists) who will and have done damage to Fleury |

|
Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
Amazing goal by Maxime Talbot to push Game 5 to overtime...can the Pens pull out this win? I hope so- :D.
EDIT: So they did! 3 OT's! Game 6 is on in Pittsburgh. |

That said, GO WINGS! Let's bring it home tonight (with it being the Cup and not game 7). |
Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
You know, this set of finals is almost making me not want to watch hockey anymore. I think that the refs are trying to single-handedly determine these games. These penalties are ridiculous. The Penguins and Wings do the exact same things, yet somehow it's only a penalty for the Wings... Guess we gotta fight everyone wearing black on the ice...
All I have to say is that it's a good thing that FIRST refs are better than these guys! |
Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
*sigh*
...Congratulations to the Red Wings. |
Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
IMHO...the Red Wings were like 1114 this year. They were the best and deserved to win it all, and did (with a little bit of a scare in the finals)...

I found that, and the fact that Gary Bettman was literally shaking when he presented the cup to Lidstrom to be a bit... odd, and I will leave it a that. That all said: GO WINGS!!! |
Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs

*The on-ice commentary was balanced, but the reports from Pierre on the bench tended to favor the Wings. That may just be reality of the two benches though, so it's not a real issue. As for Gary Bettman, keep in mind he had been sitting in a nice heated VIP suite the whole game, and then was on the ice. That temperature transition might give some the shivers. ;) |
Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
I'm glad that the games were good and I hope it was good for NBC... Being a long time hockey fan, I was very happy to see it on prime time and I hope it worked out well enough for it to continue...
|
Re: 2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs
I really do not like the announcers for the major networks like NBC when it comes to hockey. They don't seem to have very much enthusiasm(spelling).
