Scouting: Galileo and Archimedes

I resently learned about OPR and found it quite fasinating. Ive been following the matches in Galileo and Archimedes all day and have been constantly updating my data to achieve the best results. I've been playing around with the numbers, and based on my criteria (a combination of OPR and a ratio of Average Alliance Scores) I've come up with the following.

Galileo:

Top 8 Teams:
1114
195
103
25
121
254
40

Most interesting about these stats is that 121 and 40 are both currently seeded 45 and 57 respectively.

With that, the biggest sleeper pick goes to 1758

Their OPR is nearly doubling their expected alliance contribution, so it just goes to show OPR can really say a lot about a team that would otherwise go unnoticed (seeded 73). They are by no means a first round selection, but a late second round alliance should be very pleased with this team.

Honorable mentions go 121 and 40 both very offensive teams (OPR 40+), however they should go much earlier, therefore.. not sleeper pick

I have not yet completed the stats for Archimedes but I will post as soon as Im done.

These picks have been made solely from data and stats, I have only seen a few matches since the webstream was constantly failing on me. Luckily I discovered SOAP gameday and that has worked flawlessly.

What are your sleeper picks? Who do you think are the top teams? Agree/disagree? Im interested in your feedback!

What no 330? Something wrong with the numbers; can’t be. Four year driver (Hall of Fame type) four year arm operator, I believe (Also one of the best ever; check out his moves at the end game). Together with their drive coach, they do things most of us only dream about year-after-year.

I expect an alliance of 330, 1114, and yet to be determined will be just devastating in the finals.

Gonna be interesting no matter what the numbers say.

You might want to check out the digital scouting system at team 842. Its available to everybody. Picking those alliances can be tricky! We are in Archimedes

195 has really stepped it up so far, they are looking really good. Their pickup has really improved, keep it up and they will be a top pick.

Yep. 4 years as a team on the sticks, with the coach having coached for much longer. They've already been to Einstein twice and won it once. If they aren't on there...

Offensive Power Ranking isn't everything. Someone needs to do a Defensive Power Ranking and then add the two.

Good call, Eric: defense seems to fall through the cracks sometimes with all the offense going on.

Now that you mention it I do remember watching and being very impressed with 330. And wouldn't you know it, I just took a look at my stats and they are ranked 9th (just off the list). I hope 1114 ends up in first so they at least get first pick before any Alliance Captians decline selections disrupting the "powerhouse" alliances. I've completed the stats for Archimedes and results are as follows.

Archimedes

Top 8 Teams:
1024
1305
2604
525
2081
1771
27
201

Once again this proves interesting as the top 3 teams are all currently seeded 18+. Also 1771 is 70th and we have a rookie team 2604! Only to for these top 8 are currently seeding as top 8.

With, once again, the sleeper picks

Manly low seeded/high OPR teams have already been mentioned, but they will most likely be first round selections. Others in this league include 71, 93 and 222. Archimedes seems much more evenly spread out and a sleeper is hard to choose. I doubt teams will recognize 1771 early and they may end up being a very strong sleeper pick. If they don't fall through the cracks and get snaged earlier, I would go with 177 as top sleeper. Once again a team that has a reasonably high OPR and nearly doubling expected alliance contribution.

It will be interesting to see how the stats change with the remaining games tomorrow. I look forward to be able to clearly watch the games on SOAP tomorow and have a better estimation based on some true scouting. What are your thoughts?

I would like to see some stats that back these rankings up.
The list i have is different than this one.
The stats that should add up are Hybrid/Pickup/Hurdling
I still think it would be interesting to see what others thought.
I wont see the lists by the time elims come because i will be at the stadium with no internet, however, coming back and reading them is just as good.

I know we are the top hurdling team in Archimedes or at least in the top 2 or 3. Our pick up method is perfect (never lost a ball) and instantaneous when we touch it. We have only missed one shot the entire championship. I know we had one match with 6 hurdles and at least two more with 5 hurdles. Unfortunately our record does not reflect our scoring per match.

Not to worry, 1771. Teams who are scouting and counting your individual scoring know exactly where you are.

I know. I'm not too worried about teams scouting us. I feel like our kids have done a pretty good job of showing well.
