I see an issue with a society in which the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word Thrust is something derogatory. It is that facet of society which FIRST can change.

If that be the case, then this poll belongs in the community prefaced with the reason why the team is asking for the information and input. It would show the community how its impact has affected the team through jokes and remarks.

It could be done at a fundraiser for the team, like a pasta dinner. It could be done at the school.

Just a thought.

The community is the one who needs to listen to these thoughtful remarks.
If that be the case.

If it were the sponsor or the school expressing concern about the team name, then you probably should make a change.

Since this seems to be about a few students (who probably could find a way to twist almost any name), stick with your brand. They'll grow up...maybe.

Thanks to all CD'ers that responded to this Poll.
The jury is still out as to if we are going to change.

In my opinion I say stay with your team name THRUST because everyone in the FIRST community will always remember you by that name, especially if you have been around for 4 years now. But hey, if you want to change it, no one is stopping you.

Re: What's in a Name?

I'm not sure who said it, and I regret that I'm not quoting it,
but if wearing the team shirt causes commotion becuse the name['s acronym] has a double meaning, I second the opinion that they then should put the full name, so that its not so easily misinterpreted.

Although if you do chose to change it, keep the theme.
