If they could have caught that ball reliably, they'd have been able to launch it and get it over the 1st overpass just before they get their 5th line.

Also, 188 had a similar incident to that of 191 in the elims at Waterloo, as did 2609 a match or two later. 2609 placed, backed up, the match ended, and their arm hit the ball on the way down when their robot got disabled (the ball WAS still settling)... the refs didnt take the points away (as they shouldn't have, but they initially acted like they were going to.)

If your talking Waterloo elims with the 2609 thing, yes they did take it away :( I was at the driver station beside them and watched the refs take the ball off, I was very dissapointed, but I don't think it matter, we were playing 1114 at the time, and 12 points wouldn't of mattered lol

Final Match 1 of San Diego, all within the last 3-5 seconds; 1717 places, 294 knocks and 968 hurdles for a 2 point win.

Definetely one of my favorites!

The San Diego finals were the highlights of the season for me. :)

There was a match where I think 39 shot a ball in the final seconds from the previous quadrant which knocked the ball out of 20's forks who were about to get a last second place. Its a little fuzzy, but I will find the newton video when they get posted.

Their robot had enough momentum to roll up to overpass; the roller-wheels had enough momentum to spit out the ball; after power was turned off the elevator lowered, for a flawless place!

We had a similar place like that.

Yeah I was surprised it happened, too.

Yeah that quarter final match was crazy... OUr drive team realized that we wouldnt have time to get back to our home zone so we aimed for the cross shot. Last few seconds of the match both us and opposing team team 71 fire and the trackballs collide in mid air. Descoring the hurdle. What are the odds?!?!?!

Very fun driving in those matches. :D

I was waiting to see video of this, and now that the Newton video is up, it's cooler than I remembered :)

In Newton QF 73, 102 comes out of the gate and crosses the first line by the time 111 gets the trackball down. 102 makes the turn and crosses the second line. As they prep for line 3, they over steer and start heading back towards the second line. In the nick of time, 111 drives up onto 102's bumper and escorts them across the third line, saving the penalty and tacking 8 points on to the hybrid score. Gotta love being at the right place at the right time.

at the buzzer they let go of the ball and win the match by 2 points because of the herd.

We were VERY Lucky, but it was incredible to watch that ball roll across the line. 103 and 272 were amazing together and we will have to face them many times in the off-season. (Yikes!)

Sum Qualifying match in Newton Us and one other team was on the field with a no show on our side. we were going against Driving Miss Daisy, a herder, and sumwhat of a rabbit.
in auto Driing miss daisy was atempting to knock a ball of the rack when Bob came around the corner he smacked driving Miss Daisy in the bak and she fell over leaving thier team with no hurdler. and we won the match,

we apologized like 50 million times,............

I'd have to agree, there were some lucky shots throughout the season, but this was just plain skill. I saw a lot of teams try to shut down 1114, but whatever you did, they found a way to win.:yikes:

How bout at midwest when UPS 1675 takes laps side by side with 1114 causing them to take the outside and slowing there lap times. After each hurdle 1675 knocked the ball away or pinned it, causing more delay. in the mean time 33 and 1781 hurdle like mad allowing us to win the match 62 86. 1114 only hurdled 6 times that match.

I think that statement more or less sums up how good 1114 really was this year. Most teams dream of hurdling 6 times in a match. The fact that teams are bragging that they held 1114 to 6 hurdles shows the incredibly high level they played at.
