Vex and FTC

Hey guys,

I was thinking of starting an FTC team and/or Vex Robotics team. However, I can't find any updated information about registering new teams, as well as new pricing information. If someone has this information please could you give it to me.

Also, do the Vex and FTC competitions overlap, because in that case we would have to choose only one or make two teams.

Thanks,
Sravan

Some information in this thread.

Besides whats in there, there still isn't a lot of definite information. IFI expects to be releasing a lot of information in late August and early September. For FIRST we have no idea.

I was thinking that they just havent realesed the information yet but then I started thinking I just suck at finding links.

Well thanks anyways, I'll keep checking the FIRST site and I'll get in contact with the NJ FTC Director as well.

Thank you,
Sravan

http://www.usfirst.org/community/fvc...t.aspx?id=9044 explains specifics about the program next year including costs.
Registration is expected to open by the end of this month; kits shipped in August; game released in September; Championship Tournaments are usually held from November through late Feb/early March. Last year most tournament dates were not announced until September/October.

It's great ur starting a team.

TO KATHIEK:

I heard that registration is different such as the teams that were there at the beginning get to register first. When u say "Registration is expected to open by the end of this month" do you mean for these veteran, teams or for everyone?

I expect it opens for everyone, as it has in past years. I haven't heard that it will open for veteran teams before rookie teams.

I am sure that there will be more information about registration on the FIRST website as soon as they are able to post it.

I think what you might be thinking about is Veteran teams being able to register with their old number.

Re: Vex and FTC

At the VEX Championship it was announced that VEX entry fees would be $75 for the first team from a school, and $25 for each subsequent team from that school.

FTC entry fees are traditionally about $275, with no discount for a second team, although I have not heard anything that confirms that those will be the prices for next year.

The FTC Kit of Parts will cost $900. FIRST will subsidize that down to $450 for teams that competed this year.

Individual tournament entry fees are extra in both competitions, and vary from competition to competition, I believe.

If you really mean Vex and not next season's FTC (next season FTC will use a kit that isn't from the Vex product line), then search for ManicMechanic's files stored in the Chief Delphi Whitepapers archives.
