How FIRST got my address?
I got junk mail from FIRST. I was wondering if anyone knows how they might have gotten my information?

Re: How FIRST got my address?
You typically have to sign a number of permission and release slips. One of them I thought wanted a home address. That's probably how.

Re: How FIRST got my address?
what was this junk mail
if FIRST sent me mail, i would be happy, not upset |
Re: How FIRST got my address?
Numerous ways -
Have you ever volunteered for an event? When you sign up in the TIMS, VIMS, or RIMS systems, FIRST has your information on file. Have you ever attended an event with a team? When you sign their Consent and Release Form, you have the option of putting your home and email addresses on the form. Did you fill in your email address to receive newsletter updates from FIRST? Could be any of these. |

I got some too. I got the mail and was excited, and couldn't open it(adressed to my mom). When she opened it I asked her what it was, and she said it was asking for FIRST donations. I thought kind of the same thing, but it didn't bug me much. I like it better than some of the other junk mail we get.

Re: How FIRST got my address?
That is exactly what it was. Asking for donations. It doesn't bother me much. But my parents don't like me to give out our information and wanted to know how.

Re: How FIRST got my address?
I hear its from when you 'apply' for the awards information they ask this stuff...Not 100% sure but I don't like this one bit. FIRST asking for money like this is absurd. What happened to the tens of millions of dollars they receive from corporate sponsors?
I'd rather have my parents, teachers, and friends donate to a local team or robotics organization. Pavan . |
