Re: Battle O' Baltimore 2

The Battle O' Baltimore was well received in it's first year and will be even better the second time around. It will be at a roomier venue. The Park School will ber our hosts. The Park School has a huge gym! We will take the first 24 teams to register for this August 9 event.

The website for our event is www.battleobaltimore.com .

In the interest of cost saving measures the fee is rolled back to 150 early registration/200 late registration.

Please sign up quickly we are already registering teams!

Oh and by the way---the crab theme remains!

1923 will definitely look into attending BoB again! We loved the event, and I hope the team can make it down again.

OK, great. Thanks Greg.
Maybe I'll keep up the insanity of a season of traveling all over the country for competitions & show up this year.

The music fest Jenny posted is tempting me to come down there as well as just for the competition.

Southwest usually has the best deals on direct flights between Hartford and B-more (but you usually won't see these thru some of the sites like Orbitz).
BWI is about 30 minutes drive to Park School, depending on rush hour traffic.

There is public transport from BWI on the light rail.
http://www.mtamaryland.com/services/lightrail/schedule/
Nearest stop to Park School is Falls Road. You would need to have someone pick you up there.

I believe the hotel block rooms reserved by the organizers have all been claimed.
All 24 teams have paid. See the list here: http://battleobaltimore.com/

Welcome Race Fans!
The Baltimore Area Alliance organizers are looking forward to seeing all the teams, the parents, the pre-rookie teams and the new mentors, the public, and the special guests this Sat. The NASA field is being packed in the truck. The food is being organized. The decorations are ready to be put up. The awards are polished. The crew shirts are in. The punch list is almost done....

Many thanks to all the volunteers and hope everyone has a great time! Unfortunately I will miss it this year but will be there is spirit..

Dan, John, Nick and Shelby of Team 007 - Thanks so much for adopting me and giving me a fun day at the BoB today! I'll wear my 007 shirt with pride.

Dan and John (and Shelby) - Take care of Nick - I think he is a keeper ;)

Ohmies (623) and MOEs (365) (and all the teams that lent hand when someone other than I was doing the asking) - Thanks for all the help!

Field support, judges, other staff - Great Job!

Re: Battle O' Baltimore 2

I'm really sorry I missed the BoB. However, family trumps FIRST. There was a lot going on with my family this weekend.

I just received a PM that there was a moment of silence held in honor of my grandfather. Since I wasn't there, I obviously don't know who organized that, but I want to publicly thank...whoever it was...here on CD. That means a lot to me and my family. He loved FIRST and I'm glad to see that FIRST loves him back.

I'm sure the event was great. Hopefully, I'll be able to join in the fun next year.

WOW!
The battle went off as planned. 24 teams and some great competition!
As one of the volunteers I had a really good time.

Re: Battle O' Baltimore 2

OH! BTW...
If someone comes across a 100' extension cord with the name Eastman on the tag... It's mine! I raided every extension cord I had to get power to the pits and this one is missing.

I understand how easy it is to just coil everything up and throw it in the box while you are leaving so I'm not too upset. The teams that were using that particular power were all local so I'm hoping to see it again!

If you have it just reply to this post. I'll get back to you off-line.
Best regards!

Re: Battle O' Baltimore 2

On behalf of team 191 I would like to thank the organizers of the event in particualr Brian Bruneau and Paul Harris for their help getting my team settle for a hotel and set up at the event. I also would like to thank teams 25 and 365 and in particular a huge thank you to Bob Dudek for his help with repairing our robot so the kids could get some invaluable experience actually driving the robot around the field and competing.
The kids really enjoyed their trip down and hopefully we'll be back.
