Indiana Jones

One Word: AWESOME!!!!!

I just saw it with a friend and we were like “WOW!”. The beginning of the movie was a little bit shaky, (made me wonder why I spent $9 to see it) but once the action starts, you are in one of the coolest adventures of your life. Trust me, if you want to experience an adventure, Jones is the man to take. I was mesmerized by the special effects and the beautiful landscapes as the movie proceeded.

Then at one point in the movie, as the audience was so silent you could have heard a pin drop, I was shock when a certain character said something and I was like “ WHAT!” out loud and the audience heard me and laugh. I leave you to see why I said that!

Lastly, do your homework before you see it because you will be somewhat confuse at some of stuff in the movie if you don't.

Overall, an amazing movie and hope all of you can see it!

I heard that if you loved the old Jones movies you wouldn't be too fond of the new one, but I take it that's not the case :p Either way I definitely plan on going to see it with some friends, probably next week, so don't spoil anything!

Re: Indiana Jones

It was OK, but certainly nowhere near as good as the older movies. The plot was just bizarre and some of the characters pretty cliché, but the special effects and action scenes were amazing.

I'm definitely not complaining, though, since I got to see it for free (Google bought out 30 or so screenings and gave away the tickets to employees).

Re: Indiana Jones

The movie was a bit like Indy. Old and worn and probably starting to get a bit tired( I really hope the rumors aren't true and George Lucas isn't trying to make a fifth movie. The series needs closure).
Still it was pretty fun (Gadzooks those ants were freaky! If I ever go to South America I'm bringing a case of Raid!) and it was good seeing Indy and Marion working together again. And Shia LeBeouf was a welcome addition to the franchise. The alien story felt like a tack on from CEo3K.
C+

Re: Indiana Jones

I thought it could have been better. My friends also thought parts of it reminded them of National Treasure too much.

It certainly did start with a bang though didn't it. :P

Awful. Just really bad, save your money and go see something else. They should have left it at three films, but I guess Lucas has a knack for bringing back things he shouldn't.

From what I've heard everywhere sounds terrible, wondering if i should even go.

Re: Indiana Jones

I loved the movie. It had a weird plot but they made it fit into the Indiana Jones realm. It was funny and exciting and I am sure I will watch it again when it comes out on dvd. The only problem I had with it was the monkey scene. And they totally squashed the idea of any more Indy films, at least that is the way i feel, at the end of the movie. I won't ruin the ending, but my entire group of friends sighed a sigh of relief whenever they stopped any more Indy films from happening.

And come on it's Harrison freakin Ford. He is like the sexiest man alive and he is in his 60s i think.

I'm worried what Clone Wars is going to be like August 15th. He wrote it so it's a good chance it'll be terrible.

I may just be a Lucas fan boy but i think because he wrote it, it should be at least decent. I liked the prequel trilogy, not as much as the original but none the less it was well written.

I haven't seen it yet (plan to soon, I usually catch big releases like this) but I've heard from a couple people that the movie is great but the ending made them wish they hadn't gone. Any comments on that? (sans spoilers)

Yeah that is what I didn't like about the movie. The ending was way too cliché. But it is an overall good movie, and I would recommend seeing it.

I thought the story was horrible, but it's worth seeing for the action scenes. The beginning (15mins wasted - barely related) and end (WTF?) are terrible...

Re: Indiana Jones

WARNING: Contains minor spoilage.

If it wasn't part of the Jones series and people didn't have such a high standard, then it would have been amazing and I doubt anyone would have thought anything other then: great movie. With that being said, it was still great. Yes, it did have high standards to meet...but it met everyone of them. I thought that the monkey thing was the only thing I would have changed. Also, as far as the ending goes, it was definitely cliche. But you must realize that an ending must be good for it to become a cliche. Finally, for the sequal possibility...I would not make another Indiana Jones movie. However, I would make a Mutt Jones movie. Have it based off of Shia's character possibly in the future. Have him go to Indy for a bit of info but that be about it for Indy. Just a thought.

Re: Indiana Jones

It was awful as an "Indiana Jones" movie; not much better as a generic action/adventure film.

It lacked everything that makes the original films exciting -- there's nothing on the line for Jones or anyone else, for that matter. In Raiders of the Lost Ark, the Nazis were after the Ark of the Covenant; something that is recognizable to most everyone in the world and that has an intriguing history all its own. That makes us identify with it and we sure don't want bad folks like the Nazis to have it.

The crystal skull feels fabricated because it's not as familiar to audiences and so it doesn't feel like there's very much at stake. The original trilogy's weakest artifact, the Sankara stones, work better because they're not really what Indy's fighting for anyway -- he's fighting to free the kids from slavery.

This movie plays like a trip down memory lane; a look at what made the movies fun and groundbreaking without any real attempt at replicating that success. Boring.

Oh you best believe in the crystal skulls. They're legit (;))

Or not...

For a person who is unfamiliar with the other 3 movies, I enjoyed it. (Ive seen the temple of doom, but that was in spanish class, so needless to say I really didnt see it)

You have to remember that Spielberg is a big Sci-Fi guy, and to combine his sci-fi fetish with lucas' imagination, I think it was pretty good, but not my thing.

What I liked about the movie was the comedy and the chemistry between the different characters. You have to appreciate the fact that they acknowledged Jones being old and made it humorous.

As for the beginning being bad, I think it was midly important, it introduces the characters a bit and sets up the plot, but I do think it was a bit of a waste. As for the ending--I wasn't a fan.

And to Kokoed, You are the first person I've heard besides Corey Balint use the phrase "Gadzooks". I didn't believe the phrase existed.

Meh, I'll end up seeing it. Whether its good or not, it's a Lucas production. That makes me almost required to go. :P

Re: Indiana Jones

I saw it last weekend and I thought it was good. Although not up to par with Holy Grail, I liked the tie ins with the older Jones, later time line, hints back to previous movies and of course, the return of Karen Allen. I thought it brought in the good vs. bad with a fair bit of excitement and great chase scenes. The entry into the temple was a little far fetched but so was Temple of Doom. All in all it was a pretty good movie. I count how good movies are by how many times I look at my watch to see how much time to the end. A "zero watch" being the best and this movie hit that watermark. I hope this brings Indy back for another.

Re: Indiana Jones

I thought this movie was just like the rest of the Indiana Jones Movies.

Each Movie starts out with a random adventure or alternate quest for Indiana Jones and introduces a main character:
  • Raiders of the Lost Ark - The Golden Idol - Rene Belloq
  • Temple of Doom - Remains of Nurhaci for a large diamond - Wilhelmina "Willie" Scott
  • Last Crusade - Cross of Coronado - Indiana Jones' Fedora Hat
  • Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - the alien remains(highlight to revile spoiler) - George "Mac" McHale and Irina Spalko

After the opening scene they typically (except temple of doom) cut to Indiana Jones teaching in his class room and is then interrupted by the Marcus Brody or Charles Stanforth.

Also all Indiana Jones movies have very cheesy lines and some times predictable situations.

I heard a lot of people saying the movie sucked, so I saw it will very low expectations. But after seeing it I thought it was a good movie and would recommend seeing it.

Wow, I just saw it and all I can say is wow. I thought it was a great movie just like all the others! Sure aliens are a stretch but then again a satanic cult that ripped people's hearts out wasn't exactly normal either. I thought they did a great job. Although some of the stunts may have been stretched a tad, basically the same as old indy! I would see it again!

Re: Indiana Jones

Now that we have had a few weeks, the guys and I were talking about the film and cast. We all thought it was a shame that Sean Connery was not returning as Indy's father. The two worked so well together in "Holy Grail". So I did a little research and found that Sean is in retirement and refused the movie on those grounds only. It was a tough decision but he was quoted as saying "retirement is just so much fun." Good for him and bad for us. Good luck in your retirement Sean.
Everyone still is grateful that Karen Allen has returned. She adds a great charachter to the film and is certainly the only female lead that Indy would fit in with.

The world won't be the same without Sean Connery acting in it.

I liked it but I saw it at a premiere so I'm not sure if I would pay for tickets or just wait to rent it. Its good but its not great. It was fun watching all the old movies beforehand with friends though.

Karen Allen's character was rough, tough, smart, and full of adventure in her first Indiana Jones film. It rocked. Her raspy loud voice was so annoying and fun. Glad to see she can still wow with her character's toughness and attitude.
