How can i make diagonals like the pink team made on their frame using Solidworks. Or how to extrude a scissor or diamond pattern

Thanks,

One way to skin this cat would be to extrude the basic shape (4x4" box), and then cut the desired shapes into the side with the extruded-cut tool. You can pattern these shapes to save a little time.

In Sheet Metal, there is a tool called VENT.
1. Create a flat rectangular Base Flange (this is an Extrude feature but in Sheet Metal).
2. Create a sketch that is rectangular. This is the boundary of your diagonals. In the same sketch, draw the criss-cross lines. You can use the Sketch Pattern feature so the lines are equidistant apart
3.Exit the Sketch
4. Select VENT from the Sheet Metal toolbar. First select the outside boundary. Then select the criss-cross lines for Ribs.

This can also be used not just for a cool design but also to indicate the percent of open space for air flow.

Other patterns can be used with this technique. Click on the ? in the Vent Property manager to see different styles in creating decorative and functional vents. As long as the material remains at constant thickness you can use Sheet Metal. Otherwise, use Rib. Marie
