I occasionally listen to Carlos Jean, I enjoy my Cat Stevens, Crosby/Stills/Nash/Young, Cherish the Ladies, Gershwin, Elton John, Lou bega, Royksopp, Metallica, Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

Oh, and I LOVE theme songs... I have the star wars theme (all movements, a disco version, and an a capella version), the halo themes/songs, Fifth Element, Pirates of the Carribbean (fans of all three themes but only the first and third movies), The Last Starfighter, Indiana Jones (especially the beginning of the theme to temple of doom), James Bond themes, and I LOVE the credit music to The Mummy Returns.

And, I have a confession to make. Occasionally I just find myself playing with the freq. generator my laptop making standing waves in a cup of water sitting in front of my subwoofer...

Today's commute: the cast recording from Monty Python's Spamalot. If you are mature enough for Monty Python and the Holy Grail, you're covered; if your parents have sheltered you from the latter, avoid the former.

That said, I've seen it twice (once on Broadway from standing room, once with the traveling production which wasn't as well-done, but at least I could sit down), and I'd recommend it.

Actually not listening to any recorded music...
my neighbors the Gove Street Back Yard Band are having a jam session...
they pretty good... southern rock, hard country, kinda Montgomery Gentry playing with the Charlie Daniels Band.
Some of the boys from Hard Ride playing too so theres some Metal Country...
thats right... Metal Country, just something you have to hear to believe.
Think Metallica doing covers of Johnny Cash.

While working in the campus machine shop earlier today (milling parts for a RBE2001 group project), In Silico by Pendulum, Fix Your Face by TRVS & DJ AM, and then Here We Stand by The Fratellis were the albums of the day.

Right now, I'm listening to Any Time Now by O.A.R.

Today, as I shot my way through about nine cars (and re-realized why I like the Buick Lucerne), I was listening to the X-Ecutioners' Built From Scratch. I'm not usually a turntablism kind of guy, but their particular style works for me.

Once that ran out, I started on Wyclef Jean's The Ecleftic: 2 Sides II a Book. The follow-up to The Carnival, it's more straightforward hip-hop (well, by Wyclef's standards anyway). Regardless, it's worth finding...but if you don't have the cash right now to dig through the used CD bin, well...

Gottas agree with you wholeheartedly on The Carnival! I trudged through many long days & night of homework my freshman year of college listening to that CD repeatedly! It was my only saving grace while in those computer labs writing papers, or working on equation after equation in the math lab.
I only got interested in it because of the "Staying Alive" Bee Gees remix, but soon grew to love the whole CD. It had it all. Comedy, good beats, awesome songs, classic songs, slow ones, uptempo songs...
Great CD!!!!

Dare I say, it was very similar to what Kanye attempted & did in Graduation years before Kayne did it.
Combine old & new, & mix it up in sometimes crazy ways, & make a great compilation!

Today: Barenaked Ladies' Disc One: All Their Greatest Hits (1991-2001). A suitable introduction to BNL for the uninitiated.

Marty Friedman- Scenes
Some of you may know him as a fromer member of Megadeth, most famous in my opinion from the Rust in Peace album and songs like Holy Wars, Hangar 18, and Tornado of Souls.

In his post-Megadeth career, Marty Friedman has released several solo albums, which are departures from his work with Megadeth. Full of melody, expression, and marty's awesome songwriting abilities, Scenes is probably my favorite solo album of his, at least at this moment. This album also has plenty of technicality and shredding to it as well, so don't think it's all soft melodies.

Also, if you enjoy Marty's shreddier side of his playing, check out Cacophony, a band that he and Jason Becker were in. Not a lot of... let's say substance... but lots and lots of shredding.

Along the drive to and from TNT:

Everything You Want by Vertical Horizon (why did I like this ten years ago?)
Ego Trippin' by Snoop Dogg (not his best, I think)
American Gangster by Jay-Z (epic)
Gnarls Biggie by Sound Advice (good stuff)
MTV Unplugged No. 2.0 by Lauryn Hill (highly underrated)
St. Elsewhere by Gnarls Barkley (still good, even if you're tired of "Crazy")
The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill by Lauryn Hill (also great stuff)

There were more, but I don't remember all of them.

Forty Licks - The Rolling Stones One of the greatest bands of all time as well as the best concert I ever saw
Recollection - Creedence Clearwater Revisited Great if you like southern rock. Much better than the original. Basically the drummer and bassist from the original band decided to start up a new one. Also saw these guys live this past summer. Sounds better than when John Fogerty was in the band.
