Help 2158 win $10,000 in the BigLots contest

Team 2158, the ausTIN CANs is in the running for the Big Lots Lots2Give video contest. We submitted a video and made it into the top 100 submissions. Now it's down to public voting - Anyone can vote 3 times a day, until July 22nd. So if you can spare a few seconds, vote for our team every day until then!

$10,000 goes to the winning entry, $5000 to the 3 runners up, and $2500 to the next 22 runners up.

http://www.lots2give.com/Vote2.aspx
To find our team, search for the zip code "78759" and then click on the one that says "Anderson High School"

We also found one other FIRST team that has made an entry, Team 1484 from Houston, so vote for them too! Search for zip code 77009 and click on "Hogg Middle School Center For Robotics"

For everyone who votes, thank you for supporting us!

Cool idea. Just adding a post to keep it up on the top of the leader board.

My elementary school did this about 20 years ago. We called it the outdoor lab. All I can remember was the giant rock that was a little bigger than a car.

Good Luck.

3 votes only per day. If you vote for one school 3 times you cannot vote for the other school till next day. You got my vote.

I split my votes today three ways (one for each of the aforementioned schools and one for a finalist from Richland One). Good luck!

It looks like there are two schools in zip code 78759 doing this contest. The website seems a bit confused, because of this. (Search that page by zip code to find them.)

I believe 2158 is Anderson HS, while Burnet MS is doing the outdoor classroom thing.

Try this link for 2158....

Yup, that's the TinCANs - awesome, Tristan. They are making a big difference in the Austin area and will continue to impact the Central Texas area with their enthusiasm and can-do attitude. Their high school, Anderson High School, is also working to make a difference as well and among other things, hosted the pre-Kick Off scrimmage this year for the area teams. To add, Richard is currently serving on the planning committee for an off-season competition here in Texas in our near future.

Vote for 1484 as well. They are another awesome team in Texas, always helping and creating opportunities to make a difference, spreading the news of science and technology, partnerships, and building teams.

The rules say three votes per person per day, but what the website enforces is three votes per computer per day. If you have only one computer and more than one person who wants to vote for 2158, you can clear your browser's cookies (and re-open the website) in between each person voting. (Please note that each person is still limited to three votes per day by the rules)

Good luck!! My family is voting for you!

Thanks for all the help guys! I don't know how I got the wrong link, but I edited my first post so it should work now. Linking to a particular video doesn't seem to work, so you have to search for the team by zip code.

Just voted for you. Good luck getting space at school for your robots (& with winning the contest). Great idea entering the contest. :)

Thanks for catching that mix-up in the links. I voted 3 times yesterday for the outdoor lab thing. Got it right today. Good luck!

Good luck guys! Hopefully you'll win the $10,000, but at least you've got some other chances at some money for the team. That was a creative idea for fundraising. (-:

I sent an email out to other MARS members; hopefully more of Team 1523 will join in the voting. Continued good luck through the end of voting on July 22nd.

Thanks to everyone who voted for our team in this contest. Unfortunately, it was not quite enough to win 1st, but here is what we got:

Quote:

To the faculty, staff and students of Anderson High School,

The response to our Lots2Give contest has been overwhelming. We received so many great videos telling us why their school could use a helping hand. We were truly touched by the commitment and determination of so many of this country's educators.

Unfortunately, not every school could have a winning video, but we don't want any contestants to feel like their efforts are unappreciated. That's why we're awarding each runner-up school a $100 Big Lots gift card, which we hope will help in some small way.

That's still really awesome, that was probably one of the most creative ways I've seen a team fundraise, and you still got a donation. :]
