CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #209

It's a brand new year!

Normally, the scores would go here. But, since there aren't any due to the new year starting, I'll substitute the rules:

-If it's your image I pick, you're not eligible.
-If you suggest an image and I pick it, you're not eligible.
-Entries will be scored by me on originality, or in the absence of that, dry humor.
-First place gets ten points, second gets five, honorable mentions will be awarded at my whims.

Traditionally, roughly half of the entries receive a two-point honorable mention, and one particularly good zinger received the burn award, good for three points. The remainder receive a single point.

There have been some updates to the rules over the years:

If, in Billfred's judgement, he will be unable to administer the caption contest for a week, he may select one contestant to temporarily run the contest, including picture selection and judging. Since that contestant can't enter their own contest, they will receive their average score multiplied by the number of weeks they run the contest, rounded off.

Since then, the only thing that's changed is the deadline: Saturday at midnight Eastern, though entries posted afterward will count if they're posted before I open the thread to score it.

With that, here is the picture:

Go!

Team 675's compressor was never in the Kit of parts and the team resorted to creating gas the old fashioned way....eating greasy foods.

It was to no surprise that their robot earned the name "stinky" for the season.

you know you are way to involved in FIRST when you cant even eat without trying to build a robot to do it for you

Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #209

Once the Kitty of Parts was implemented, sustenance had to be provided to get it through the season.

Don'tcha just hate those hard-to-open containers of BBQ sauce? Tin snips to the rescue!

After recieving an incorrect order from Bimba just days before ship, team 675 needed plenty of power for their calorie powered cylinder-stretching operation.

The five major food groups: Burgers, Butter, Pneumatics, Tools and Peanuts.

[NPOE: Woo Hoo! In the top ten for the 2007-08 season! And a Bridesmaid to boot!]

Students will work to the wee hours of the morning, fearlessly brandishing a cordless drill with their largest bit, trying to reduce weight. However, whenever the option to increase their own weight arrives, students are helpless.

The Snacker-based robot had been called crazy, even impossible by some. Unfazed team 675 plowed ahead in what would go down as FIRST's most delicious disaster.

Hmm... hmmmmmmmmmmmm... Okay, now I remember, guys. We were gonna... wait a sec... nah, I lost it again. Let's just eat the burgers. I told you they were gonna be more useful than the pistons.

team 675 getting an early start on the 2008-09 game.... build a mobile burger launching platform to launch burgers into Big Mike's Mouth

Suspecting that the robots will be meat-powered for next year's game, team 675 is preparing by stockpiling as many ground beef patties as it can.

Team 675 was afraid that the regional officials would be stricter on bring food into the venue so they came up with a plan. We listen in on the conversation. Their names were concealed to protect the guilty.
Ch 1: "OK, carefully open the BBQ sauce and pour it into the gas cyclinders. This will make a great dispenser. Next, take the hamburgers out of there wrapping and cut them to fit into the BBQ sauce containers."
Ch 2: "Won't they ask about the BBQ sauce?"
Ch 1: "We'll just tel them we plan on doing a mock first aid drill and we use the sauce to simulate blood."
Ch 2: "OK"

Replacing my original entry with this.

In spite of the fact that cheese Burgers were considered to be a COTs by the FIRST manual, after prototyping 675 realized that using them as a building material might not be a good idea.

I'm not surprised to see that the pistons weren't eaten. It's common knowledge that once pneumatics are activated, they're very difficult to keep down.

Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #209

When you start using burgers as parts, and your teammates tell you that you can't use them because they aren't in the KOP, this is a huge red flag that you and your teammates need some sleep.

Final score of the 2008 season:
Cylinders: 20
Burgers: 100
Team 675: Infinity due to eating all the burgers and -infinity due to eating their robot's actuators.
Scoring computer: Crashed. It's kind of hard to subtract infinity from infinity (or, for that matter, do ANYTHING with the FRC scoring computers...).

From the "We always joke about it , but no one ever really does it....do they?"
department:
Team 675 receives an event DQ at UC Davis, after 3 freshman, a box of burgers
and unfinished pneumatics are discovered when their crate is opened.

T'was the night before Ship Date and there wasn't a creature in sight. Actuators sat in boxes to the waking children's delight. The mothers and fathers of the children sat put, while the pitter patter of young engineers' feet woke them and lit up the shop. Scattered around were the young engineers, eagerly awaiting their snackage and gears. Happiness rang through Rohnert Park as the students collected their desired snacks and parts. They devoured the food like they hadn't eaten in days, this was so true in so many ways. As all the children ate and were lullibied to sleep (by the sound of motors and compressors of course), they dreampt of the upcoming challenge and awaited their glory days.

:P

"Get ya burgers here, burgers for sale! Buy two, get a piston free!" Somehow this fundraiser just didn't quite work out the way they'd hoped...

Following a season of the drive team consistently missing lunch at comps, the students recall Mentor Bob saying, "Where there is a problem, there is an engineering solution." And that's how the Mentor Bob High Speed Injection Feeder was born.

Fear not, I'm just invoking the BIWWTM Rule. It'll be judged tonight. :)
