Re: [FF]: 2009 Season Long FF

Releasing tiers early could be done. Not all at once, but say, up to two days in advance?

Also, bear in mind that you don't have to submit just the lists for the day. Several people could get away with not showing up for a while because we've got several upcoming lists for them--the FIRST site has the teams.

General consensus is that 1) we don't want to get behind schedule and draft during build, 2) 3 drafts a day might be a bit much during the week, 3) there are several people willing to help out.

So, here's a revised solution:
  • This weekend, go with 3 per day. I run 2 at different times, Ed runs 1.
  • One of Monday's drafts is early (or a "trial run" for a new draft runner).
  • This week, two a day, but maybe a third one every now and again to stay up/make sure we don't lose time.
  • Find another person to run drafts while doing the above. Said draft leader would start sometime this week/weekend, and do more after the 19th.
The reason for the last one is simple: as FIRST adds more events, FF has to add them too. As more events are added to our schedule, having more people that can run a draft reliably becomes important--it's possible that in the near future, we have to do two per day, every day, to keep up, and nobody can keep that up.

What do you guys think?

I think a reasonable deadline for a solution is the end of tonight's draft; if you guys like the solution, Silicon Valley would be added to tomorrow's schedule and Sunday would have Wisconsin, Israel, and Arizona. After that, the entire schedule slides up a day with the exception of Palmetto or Seattle.

I am having a hard time keeping up with drafts as is, I would be happy to volunteer my efforts while I'm in Oklahoma and have nothing to do. I would just need draft lists sent to me.

FTC 1902 has a competition tomorrow, and I will not be near a computer with internet

I leave for Oklahoma next Thursday, and will be there until the day after kickoff. I will be able to use my parents' computer

How would you feel about doing three drafts per day over the weekend and into the week?

I will have a hard time doing drafts during the week after Christmas and any drafts I do between the week of Christmas and the Kickoff may easily be at an odd time. Unfortunately, this would cause the drafting to run into the build period, when it's harder to pay attention to Fantasy First for some unknown reason:rolleyes:.

However, for the next week or so, I can do two drafts in one day, with different start times. If this works out, it'll be more work during a short burst of time, but you'll get a bit of a break during the holidays. More importantly, it'll reduce the lateness of completing the drafting process.

So, what do you think? Should we do an extra draft each day for the next week, or not?

give us the lists several days in advance and OK, otherwise I would say no.

yes, if you get me the lists in the morning. I could also prep for three on Monday.

edit: if given the list on Sunday.

Re: [FF]: 2009 Season Long FF

Slight revision:
  • Saturday, normal. Release tiers/events for Sunday.
  • Sunday, three drafts. Release tiers for Monday.
  • Monday, 2-3 drafts. Depends on response. One will probably be early, regardless.
  • Rest of week, 2 drafts/day. At some point, one or two or more volunteers run one or more drafts.
  • As scheduled, with any later revisions. New drafters help greatly here.
If you're interested in running drafts, say something either here or via PM. I should note that it takes me about an hour to set up for a draft, and I usually have the randomized list ready before I start. (I have three right now, ready to go.) Then, of course, there's the time in the draft and the post-draft cleanup. Figure about 2-3 hours total, plus any randomizing time.

Right now, the question is, How many drafts on Monday? Current consensus is 2, and any more depends on when the tiers are released. If there is strong disagreement on this, speak up!

One note to all participants: There is no rule saying that you can't send in all your lists at once (some people already have, in fact). So if you want to deluge us with lists, go ahead.:] You don't have to wait for tiers to be announced.

M, W, F, S, S, are almost impossable for me to do, because I am working on those days usually

the best bet would be something along the lines of 3 drafts during the weekend and 2 drafts per night, one starting at 7PM EST and another starting at 7PM PST I think taht would be the best way to make it work, for the weekends, maybe 1, 4, and 7 PM EST would be great

Work is one reason this discussion started--I only know that I'll probably (99% chance) be working after next week, and the way work is scheduled, who knows when I'll be available. (That, and having the week after Christmas be my jury duty week, when my schedule could go south at any time...)

I'll think about those times. What will probably happen is that two drafts are at the normal time (7 PM EST) and one is either earlier (say, 4:30 - 5PM EST) or later (say, 9 PM EST).

I am fine to run drafts on the days I mentioned, I am not sure about keeping up switches after the initial drafting. I think two drafts a day monday-friday, three on saturday and sunday. I do suggest that when you have a schedule to release it.

i am fine with running drafts any day, but please consider the time differences.

i can do them at say, 10 pm Israel, and that is 3 pm for you guys...
is that ok, if yes, i'd be happy to help, plus i did one or two drafts last year so i think i remember how it goes...
