Starting a team in the Columbus, GA area

A friend of mine is, at the behest of her employer, looking to get an FRC team started in Columbus, GA. (Since the final decision to commit to this project hasn't been made, I'll leave the potential sponsor nameless.) The plan is for the team to be established in time for the 2009 season, at a local high school.

Since I'm primarily familiar with the Canadian side of things, we're looking to get some information on who the local FIRST "celebrities" are (e.g. regional directors, senior mentors, local team leaders, liasons with interested businesses, etc.).

Jeremy Roberts is probably the first guy you will want to talk to. He is in charge of the peachtree regional and a huge help.

Tristan,

We have been working with two schools in Columbus. One that is a veteran (Northside HS) and one that is just starting up Columbus HS. Send me an email so that we can coordinate efforts. This year there have been several companies/individuals that have been interested in getting things growing in the Columbus area.

I'm new to the FRC, but I didn't see Northside on the FIRST website. Is their a contact for their team?

I have created a comprehensive portfolio for developing/starting a team in Muscogee County, including full funding, volunteers, and technology mentors. I have planned to get the team up and running this fall with case studies and design charrettes in preparation for the actual build.

Any contact information would be helpful.

My apologies if I sound a tad random, but I'm very happy to see that several new teams will be forming in Georgia. Good luck to all of you!
