SolidWorks 2008

I have gotten used to using SolidWorks 2008 at work and have some parts that I have made in SW2008. However, on the computers we have for robotics we only have SolidWorks 2007. Does anyone know if we can get free copies of 2008?

The only educational versions of SW that I know of are 2007.

Thats what I was thinking. I figure once 2009 comes out they might release 2008 to students but until then I guess I will have to use 2007.

Well, the 2008 educational version is out, but you'll either have to find someone to donate licenses, or buy a seat yourself.

Also, I'm not sure if you can open a file from the commercial version in the educational version?! I remember reading something like that...

Well, the educational version of '09 won't come out till next summer, but commercially it will probably be available around the end of the year (the beta program is supposed to run about 2 months i think - started in july? - then they have a few RC, and sometime after that it'll be released).
