Depends on how FIRST grows and how they would like things laid out. The floor of LOS is much bigger than the Georgia Dome and there is 43,000 square feet of extra hall space in LOS. The entire FRC event could be held in LOS.
It also depends on how the fields would be laid out and how many seats would be retracted.

You can see in this pick how the convention center expansion will be connected to LOS by an underground tunnel.

This will be very convenient for Midwest teams.

...Which is why I propose we hold the championship in Las Vegas

If they would hold the FRC championships there good luck actually being able to stay there. The LOS was supposed to host the Drum Corps International World Championships there on August 9th. They moved it to Indiana Memorial Stadium in Bloomington. I was not happy. I really wanted to go see LOS.

Getting the place ready for the Colts took priority.

Why would they schedule it there though?

They thought it would be finished. The mechanical contractor went bankrupt in the middle of the build and really screwed up the schedule. They also had flooding problems much of which was caused by poor design of said contractor.

Trust me they didn't want to move it.

As the light refracts through the water, it absorbs red and makes everything look blue. Yes! Water Game for 2011!

I think the LOS already had their water game in 2008, and I can't imagine they'd want to do another.

My vote is to move back to Epcot. I was a spectator in 2001 and thought it was great.

I'm curious having not been to Indy (other than IRI), how busy is South St? I would imagine it is fairly busy with the Amtrak station nearby. Since I think only the robots, comp teams and volunteers would be allowed in the tunnel, how long do you think it will take to walk the street/parking lot back and forth from the convention center and LOS? I am not saying it is like Houston but that is my concern.

The nice green in between GWCC and Georgia Dome is a major positive for Atlanta. Great place to meet and unwind at lunch. Indy certainly has its positives for Champs and it will be interesting to see how this develops in a few years.

The walk would be a lot shorter compared to the walk in ATL.
We really wouldn't have to use the convention center we could put it ALL :yikes: in LOS!

I've got nothing against Indy (I've actually quite enjoyed both my trips to Indiana), but by my count LOS has nowhere near the available floor space that we used in the GWCC. Prior to 08 we had ~212,000 sq ft in Hall C at the GWCC, plus the area outside of the main hall for vendors, plus additional rooms for things like the conference topics, etc, plus the floor of the dome.

LOS has ~180,000 sq ft plus the dome floor.

No LOS has 180,000 sq ft + meeting rooms, almost twice the size of the Georgia Dome. The convention center has over 600,000 more with additional ball rooms and meeting rooms.

but remember that Hall C was specifically for all programs (not counting this year) FRC is really about half (more or less). So it would be possible to put it in LOS, but you'd probably need alternate locations for FLL and/or FTC pits (which has it's own pluses and minuses). I would think colleges and vendors could be setup around the level with the consession stands. Plenty of traffic walking by there.

I think LOS is a possibility. But for it to happen, FIRST would have to start planning at least two years prior to leaving Atlanta. I have it on good authority that they never want to try moving Championship in one year (Disney to Houston) again. Also consider there would be a period of building relationships in Indy. Right now FIRST has very good relationships in Atlanta with a number of places, the GWCC, Dome, and the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce. Not saying it can't be done but those relationships are not build overnight.
