2008 NFL Pick-em: Week 1

Time to start the third season.
This game is open to everyone.
Pick the winning team by copying the schedule and highlighting the winning team in some fashion (I normally put the winning team in bold).
If it is not clear what team you are picking, you will not get any points for that game.
Explanations are optional.
Changes can be made up until kickoff.

Thursday
Washington at New York Giants
Detroit at Atlanta

Sunday
Cincinnati at Baltimore
Seattle at Buffalo
New York Jets at Miami
Kansas City at New England
Tampa Bay at New Orleans
St. Louis at Philadelphia
Houston at Pittsburgh
Jacksonville at Tennessee
Dallas at Cleveland
Carolina at San Diego
Arizona at San Francisco
Chicago at Indianapolis

Monday

Good Luck.

Re: 2008 NFL Pick-em: Week 1

Aah, week one, the toughest week of the year.

Thursday
Washington at New York Giants NYG misses their D
Detroit at Atlanta Welcome to the NFL, Mr. Ryan. You just got beat by Detroit. Ouch.

Sunday
Cincinnati at Baltimore Nice knowing you, Rudi.
Seattle at Buffalo I'm tired of picking away teams.
New York Jets at Miami Chad Pennington's redemption game.
Kansas City at New England
Tampa Bay at New Orleans Come about Week 4 or 5 when Shockey's tuned in to the offense, NO will be a beast.
St. Louis at Philadelphia
Houston at Pittsburgh
Jacksonville at Tennessee
Dallas at Cleveland
Carolina at San Diego
Arizona at San Francisco Warner is old and completely overrated.
Chicago at Indianapolis

Monday
Minnesota at Green Bay Poor Mr. Rodgers
Denver at Oakland

Thursday
Washington at New York Giants
Injuries to the Giants D = Bad
Detroit at Atlanta
Detroit’s passing attack will be too much for the Falcons to handle

Sunday
Cincinnati at Baltimore
Bengals are back to being dysfunctional
Seattle at Buffalo
A good young team = possible wild card team.
New York Jets at Miami
Favre… why did you leave Green Bay?
Kansas City at New England
Patriots are going to be playing angry, just like they did last year. Watch them run up the score again this year…
Tampa Bay at New Orleans
Brees and Shockey could be a great combo
St. Louis at Philadelphia
I still question the St. Louis offensive line
Houston at Pittsburgh
Mendenhall and Parker will make a great RB tandem
Jacksonville at Tennessee
Still no go-to receiver for VY
Dallas at Cleveland
Shoot-out
Carolina at San Diego
Panthers hurt themselves by suspending Steve Smith, but it was necessary
Arizona at San Francisco
Toss-up
Chicago at Indianapolis
No more Rex, but no receiving corps either.

Monday
Minnesota at Green Bay
2 tough defenses, Adrian Peterson for the tie-breaker
Denver at Oakland
Raiders have to prove they are worthy first.

Re: 2008 NFL Pick-em: Week 1

Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008
Washington at N.Y. Giants, 7pm
The Giants are not getting the respect they deserve.

Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008
Detroit at Atlanta, 1pm
Atlanta is a disaster.

Cincinnati at Baltimore, 1pm
Cincy is back to being a joke once again. Marvin Lewis deserves better.

Seattle at Buffalo, 1pm
Seattle is hurt. Bills steal one at home.

N.Y. Jets at Miami, 1pm
I don't know how good Farve will be for the Jets but he should be good enough to take Miami.

Kansas City at New England, 1pm
The Patriots get a nice cushy assignment on the path to redemption.

Tampa Bay at New Orleans, 1pm
Take the home team.

St. Louis at Philadelphia, 1pm
Phili should be tough at home. At least til McNabb gets hurt again.

Houston at Pittsburgh, 1pm
Houston is getting better every year. But not beat Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh better.

Jacksonville at Tennessee, 1pm
Jacksonville has a better quarterback and that will be the difference.

Dallas at Cleveland, 4:15pm
Cleveland pulls the upset at home.

Carolina at San Diego, 4:15pm
I still don't believe in Norv Turner but they should be able to deal with the Panthers at home.

Arizona at San Francisco, 4:15pm
Why do I have a feeling I'm going to regret this pick?

Chicago at Indianapolis, 8:15pm
To think this was a Superbowl two years ago. It could be a long time before Superbowl and Chicago Bears will be in the same sentence for a long time.

Monday, Sept. 8, 2008
Minnesota at Green Bay, 7pm
I'm going out on a limb here but I just feel the Pack will push hard to prove they were more than just Brett Farve.

Denver at Oakland, 10:15pm
Denver owns the Raiders. So long as Shanhan is on the Denver sidelines and Davis is in the Raiders owner box that shouldn't change.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Cleveland will be lucky to win 6-7 games this year.

The media's overhyping of this team has had its intended effect - to get most Cleveland fans overexcited about the Browns' prospects. The team may now proceed into oblivion as usual, leading to the typical crash and burn of emotions fans set themselves up for year after year.

Unless they were tanking on purpose in the preseason, I've seen nothing out of the defense that indicates they are capable of keeping the many great offensive weapons they will face this year in check.

The Browns' O could score 50 - the opponent will score 60.

No defense, one of the league's toughest schedules, and a strong likelihood of injuries exposing what little depth they have at many key positions - not a good combination.

Don't believe the hype.

Thursday
Washington at New York Giants
Even though their D is depleated, it should still be able to handle the Skins

Detroit at Atlanta
Welcome to the NFL Mr. Ryan. Prepare to run for your life.

Sunday
Cincinnati at Baltimore
Toss Up. They always play each other well.

Seattle at Buffalo
This could be a toss up, Seattle's lack of WR's has me worried though.

New York Jets at Miami
I think Miami has something to prove this year, and Chad "Noodle Arm Pennington" wants revenge.

Kansas City at New England
A laugher, although Brady's "injuries" could be a concern.

Tampa Bay at New Orleans
Tampa Bay in a stunner, especially with the chaos surrounding the Saint's moving all over this week due to Gustav.

St. Louis at Philadelphia
McNabb has to prove that he's worthy of taking up the helm. Otherwise the boobirds will be calling.

Houston at Pittsburgh
My upset of the week. Houston looked good last year, and that was with an Injured Andre Johnson half the year.

Jacksonville at Tennessee
Tennessee has looked awful in the preseason.

Dallas at Cleveland
If the Lions can light up the Browns, I don't think Dallas will have any problems.

Carolina at San Diego
Carolina is looking good, and I wouldn't be surprised if they took the NFC south.

Arizona at San Francisco
Toss up, it's a divisional match, and neither one has a particularly good track record.

Chicago at Indianapolis
If Peyton doesn't play than this one is a toss up. If he does, then it's a no brainer.

Monday
Minnesota at Green Bay
The Vikings come in and embarrass Green Bay.

Denver at Oakland
Oakland will be better than they have in the past, but still not very good.

Re: 2008 NFL Pick-em: Week 1

AHHHH!!!!! Are you all really so close-minded to think that the Packers are THAT bad of a team without Favre. They won 13 games last year. Brett Favre didn't win 13 games, the team did. Aaron Rodgers has proved his worth and ability to replace Favre, he's had three years to prepare. He was expected to be the number one pick three years ago. The team is still just as talented as they were last year, if not better.

I'm going on record here to say that Green Bay WILL win the first game. If not, you can mock me all you want.
