FIRST Water Machine?
![]() A friend of mine phoned this morning to tell me about a FIRST vending machine he was at in Bakersfield, CA. I searched for a similar topic on the forums to try to explain this, but found nothing. |
Re: FIRST Water Machine?
It looks like one of the bottles says Shasta, which indicates this:
http://www.shastapop.com/ Beyond that, it looks like the water they have on the field at The Championship? |
Re: FIRST Water Machine?
OK, I have to ask:
Is this a hint? :p Water Game! |

Re: FIRST Water Machine?
you cannot put the first logo on a busy back ground, very bad, also is the a rule about putting a 50 (cent symbol that i was unable to find on my keyboard) sign over it?

I heard about these - but I'm not 100% sure. They were around during 1998 or 1999 championships. I've seen the bottles of water recently, and I'm pretty sure the championship volunteers drink FIRST water. Other Threads: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...threadid=21463 (with picture) I'll ask Libby and see if she can be of help... So, I'm pretty sure this is the way they do it. This is Shastas way of supporting FIRST, they put out a few machines with FIRST water in differet parts of the country and part of the profits from each of the water bottles goes back to FIRST. - Libby Kamen |
Re: FIRST Water Machine?
Well its one way to get the FIRST name and logo out to people that might not know of the group or robotics.
One suggestion I'd make... put the picture of the winning robots on the bottles. -p:cool: |
Re: FIRST Water Machine?
At the Kickoff party at Dean's, I was able to snag a couple of these only to realize that I couldn't take them full onto a plane home. lol

Although I wouldn't put it past them to make a large quantity of water every few years and then just disperse it over several seasons. After all, it's just water. If Twinkies would last through a nuclear winter, bottled water would most definitely last until the sun runs out of hydrogen and turns into a red giant in five billion years. |
Re: FIRST Water Machine?
The graphics on the labels have stayed the same but they changed the bottle design over the years.
The first year I remember seeing these was 2002 or 2003 Nationals. (Not exactly sure - I think it was in Disney, so that would suggest 2002). Although, all 3 bottles I have in 2 different bottle designs, the labels say copyright 2003 so who knows for sure. |

I'm a little bitter about water game claims if you haven't noticed. But I feel like if I had seen that vending machine, it would be in Manchester, NH. |

And I understand when people say that 'yes, it is a hazard, but one of the requirements could be to make protection over all wiring and such' This is a good idea in theory but I'm sure FIRST also realizes that it is students building these robots. Not that we are completely incapable, but we all do make mistakes, especially when we are learning. Protection can be faulty and the pose a huge problem of fire hazards. Don't get me wrong, I would love a water or ice game, it's just not realistic. |
