At least the other guy is using a torque wrench... But he must be some kind of dignitary, they had to put a big arrow showing which one to tighten...

If I had the choice between a portal to Xen and a black hole, I'd choose the first one anyways. Good thing Gordon's there to take out the Nihilanth.

If you squint, you can see the silhouette of the G-Man.

Re: OK, Humanity's screwed when they turn on the Large Hadron Collider
Ah... good, I don't have to start a new thread on the LHC, which got started up within the past day (9/10-ish):
Metafilter reports (9/9/2008) MSNBC summarizes (9/8/2008) A few WIRED! posts: Last Major Piece Fitted (2/29/2008) The sealing of the Liquid Nitrogen and Liquid Helium Cooling System (11/7/2007) Summary from 11/30/2006 Somewhere there was a gallery from WIRED, but I guess this will have to do. (Boston.com, bigger than WIRED!'s images too). I was talking to a classmate about it, and he was super excited about the superfluid properties of the liquid helium, which after seeing this video is pretty neat. Enjoy! -Joe |
