Robot Rumble 2008
 

So, 2106 is getting ready for the Virginia State fair and the Robot Rumble!
Hopefully we haven't scared all the local Virginia teams away...
I expect to see 1086, 540, 384 there. Who else is coming?

good luck with that!
The only reason we cant attend the VCU again is it being during week 4 now.
If not, we would have came again.
Arguably the best GP and sportsmanship event I have been to across the board at all levels.

1086 will be there for sure!
I wasn't too involved with the team for the first Robot Rumble, but last year was a lot of fun and I'm sure this year's will be great!

I wish there was a list to find out who was attending! It'd be interesting to know who comes down this year,...


I am sooo pumped! We've got an all new team, and we're trying to get our rookies prepped for this competition in hopes that they'll be ready for the build season it self. We only have 1 returning drive team member, and he's a senior himself this year! :ahh:

This year the team is filled with tons of first year sophomores, a few freshman (so far), a few juniors, and very very few seniors. It's sort of exciting coming back as a mentor to teach these guys what FIRST is all about! And this time I get to finally sit back, relax and give orders just like the mentors do it here! It's all about the students, so why get your hands greasy when you don't have to? hahahaha (Because it's fun :cool: )

975 should be there, but I don't know how we will do with our only returning field team member being the robocoach. But either way I am sure a great time will be had by all, this has always been a pretty big hit at the fair.

Oh wow! I hope it reaches maximum limit!!! 12 teams is NOT enough! I know we'll probably end up doing the two teams per alliance deal over again, but we should have atleast 16 - 20 teams show up. I'm sure other teams are just getting resettled back into the school year, and need some time to work around to the meetings. Maybe someone could email all the teams that have attended in the past to see if they're eventually going to sign up or not? It'd be so much better with a full roster....

Patti Cook has been emailing all the teams in the area. I just wonder where all the Rookie teams are...

Oh, and did you see that 384 made the www.usfirst.org wedsite?

Well I was able to confirm that 975 will be going again this year and I will hopefully be volunteering at the event. I know for sure I'm helping with field set up this Wednesday and I'm scheduled to also volunteer Friday, Saturday, and next Wednesday too. I'm really looking forward to it this year, it should be an absolute blast as usual.

Do you have a list of teams? I'm really curious about rookie teams. We attended during our rookie year and it was a great tool in getting the new class excited about the team.

Well, we had 6 teams with 8 robots at the FTC event today. For only having 8 robots on the field, It was an awesome time! Thanks to everyone who attended. I hope to see you next Saturday for the FRC event!

Only two more days, I can't wait. I hope everyone is prepared, and DOTM graciously donated their bot for rookie teams to use.

I haven't seen a a rookie team from 2008 signed up yet. For 2009, i don't know how many we have in the Richmond area.

And now it's all over! Wow, as usual the Robot Rumble produced some of the most exciting matches of the year. 339 had a blast - our elimination rounds were so intense! It was lose-win-tie-win in the quarters and lose-tie-lose in the semis for us. Seven matches to get through two brackets! Anyway, congrats to the winners, and I hope everyone had a great time. :)

Was it a blast or what?!? 2106 had an great time during the entire two weeks of the fair. The Rumble was a great way for us to show our rookie members what FIRST is all about. We also made it to our first finals thanks to 1731! With the two trophies we won at the fair, we need to start lobbying for some trophy case space...
