We saw one of these during IRI. It was saturday night / sunday morning at the mall after we had finished watching The Dark Knight. We asked the guy some questions about it and if he knew what the segway was, and he did. We told him more about Dean Kamen and eventually told him about FIRST. He thought it was pretty astonishing.

I was about to post with the same story Michelle had, but then I realized that she posted an astonishingly horrible picture of me. Thanks, Michelle! :P

Fake segways amuse me, because they're just plain silly. Maybe it's because I was raised on the real thing, but I imagine this version is quite uncomfortable to use. The guard in Michelle's photo explained that it's driven from the handlebars, and I was very confused. "You mean, you just stand in the same place and you have to DO SOMETHING for it to move?"

But hey- it's electric transportation. I'm all for it.

http://www.t3motion.com/ is the manufacture (or maybe it's just the products page)

Here is what the website says

Campus security at USC uses it also. They're actually fairly nimble and won't move back if someone pushes on it.:p
With full suspension to go offroad and the capability of carrying 450 lbs, it ain't too shabby.

Edit:
By USC, I mean the USC that crushed OSU 35-3.

I assume you mean That Other USC On The West Coast. The real USC uses genuine Segways that the College of Engineering and Computing is modifying with hydrogen fuel cells. Beat that! ;)
