sharing on Chief Delphi

This is something I've noticed a lot of major websites using

under videos, posts, etc. they have a button or a row of buttons that allows a person to post the item to their facebook, myspace, etc.

I was wondering if Chief Delphi could add this feature to their site (or parts of the site such as CD media).

I understand this may not be theasable, but I think this would help gain support for FIRST and (chief Delphi) if it is possible.

if there already is a way to do this or if this is/isn't possible please let me know.

Thanks.

Sincerely,

Neal Jamieson

A list of common sharing possibilities:

Digg
Yahoo's Buzz Up
Stumble Upon
Reddit
Facebook
Myspace
Fark
Delicious

It would be really cool to have the option to use that with some threads but, I think some of the other communities might become adgitated if there were tons of submissions.

It doesn't have to be an entire thread or copy the item itself.

it could just be a single post/pic/paper with a link to the discussion below the post/pic/paper.

mostly I think it would be cool to (for example) click the facebook share button and be able to post to my wall the game hint with a link to the rest of the discussion below it.

I do see a problem though if a person posted an entire discussion. which is why it should be limited to single posts with a link the rest of the discussion.

I don't know if you've ever used Digg but I use it on a daily basis. People can submit anything (most often it is news stories) they want and share it with the world. Check it out. But if people were to post around 10 CD threads a day to it, that community would not be fond of the behavior. But, in moderation it could help spread the message of FIRST since there are some threads created or pictures posted on here that can be very interesting even to those who are not of FIRST participation. When you share it on Digg it just creates a link to the 'media' and then people can "digg" it of "bury" it if they like it or dislike it respectively. It also allows them to make comments on the media on digg.

Nice idea .. I'll add it to my todo list (no promises on when it will happen, though).

What use is there in sharing information here on Digg or sites like it? The target audience of this site is extraordinarily small and exposing it to Digg -- even if it'll never be likely to garner too much attention -- seems like a sure-fire way of attracting unwanted attention from people who are not invested in FIRST programs.

This is exactly what I'm trying to do with FIRST Objective; get outside the Chief Delphi bubble. I want to expose FIRST to everyone. That seems a logical method to get FIRST to grow.

OK - I added a 'share' button on the CD-Media pages. I'll see what I can do about everywhere else .. 'eventually'. :)

Please don't take my comment the wrong way. I think Chief Delphi is an invaluable resource for existing teams. All I am trying to do is expose FIRST to schools that don't have a team. There are lots and lots, including the district I live in....

I think it is a positive thing to share FIRST related videos with everyone. That's why I created my site.

I'd rather not attract the attention of Anonymous or /b/tards via Digg.

Well, he should be able to block certain site from showing up in the list.
