[FTC]: Use of VEX in Tetrix

Hey Guys,

I saw some of the pictures that were posted in the CD gallery of the FTC scrimmage. I noticed that very few teams tried to assimilate VEX into their robots.

Any thoughts?

I/we tried to attach some of the metal pieces and were disappointed by how poorly the two systems mated at that interface. We decided not to fool with it. Quickly figuring out the Tetrix parts was enough "fun".

During the regular season, with more time on one's hands, If a team figured out a good way to mate the structural parts you could maybe do some decent Tetrix-bot framing with the Vex stuff; but I'm not sure if that team would ever be really happy with the results.

Regardless - Since your mileage may vary - Everyone should give it a try at least once. I/we certainly didn't exhaust every possibility or have every clever idea (not by a long shot ;)) about how the parts can be used.

That would be a great question to submit to the official FTC Q&A forum.

Search to see if it has already been asked and answered, and if it hasn't, post it.

The forum is here FTC Q&A

Anyone can read the thread(s) (one persectiion of the rules) containing the replies to past questions.

Folks with an authorized account can ask a question by staring a new thread. The new thread won't actually appear, but it will get read, and answered in a day or two. The answer will appear at the end of the one thread (one per section of the rules) that is visible to everyone.

The authorized accounts should belong to the team's lead mentor and their back-up (whoever was listed in those roles when the team was registered with FIRST).

I asked this question on the Q+A some time ago. We are allowed to VEX axles, including the "long" one.
