I apologize for the delay. The stalling video was a compression problem. I will start fixing it sometime next week. I have to make a chairman's video and a promo video that the news has been wanting for a while. Sorry for the inconvenience. :o

*topic revival*

We finally did figure out what the problem was at FLR, and a good portion of GTR.

We had a bad battery, internally. Either a plate was shifted, cracked, or something, because under short loads, it was fine. All the connections on the robot, and even to the battery were perfect. But once a load was put on it for a longer period of time, it would simply die. We kept using this battery, because it was the best one we had, according to our "short period" tester.

What's ironic about this, is that we named all our batteries after X-Men. It's funny, that this battery was named "Jean Grey."

Jean has been decomissioned.

It wasn't a field problem, it was just coincidental that it was the same driver's station that we were at that had problems. I felt like I needed to give this some closure, because it bit us at GTR too.

Nick,

I'm glad you guys figured out what the deal was. Although FIRST reneged on the whole "Robots can't be temporarily enabled while the FMS/field is connecting to everything" (see Bill's blog for details), your situation was definitely unique among the 3 regionals and championships that we attended.

Hope to see you at Ruckus this year, and hope that a new "Jean Grey" doesn't go "Phoenix". In which case we will be standing by with fire extinguishers and battery kits

Nick, was it one of the old 07 batteries or even 08?

It was a 2009 battery. It may have been dropped, or knocked over during the course of the season. It's unknown what really happened to it, I'm just making an assumption.

I know that I will make the effort to attend Ruckus, but I'm not sure our team will be there. I'm thinking of volunteering, myself.
