Well when I saw this comment I thought well maybe this guy has something but then no one really responded or reacted to his comment so i figured i would make and account and post. if you think of it this makes a lot of sense it could be wrong but thinking of this id say the hint means theres gonna be two fish as game pieces of some sort and that ones for the red team and ones for the blue team just like there always is a red and blue. Thats just my thoughts on what part of the game might be and i think this could be one of the most important posts here maybe someone has a idea that can expand upon that. :D

i just saw the nemo version of the "moonfish" on discovery channel on a "the world is just awesome" commercial

not sure if its relevant though, but i felt like mentioning it.:D

I didn't intend for the comment to be harsh, hence the " :) " at the end. I appreciate Keehun actually taking the time to read 17 pages of this thread, which, as you point out, is obviously more than a lot of other posters did.

But search is not only your friend, it's the GP thing to do. It only takes a minute to search several relevant terms before you post, but if you post redundant information that takes 30 seconds to read, and 120 people read it, then you've wasted an hour of the Chief Delphi community's time.

Although I would love to see a 4v0, 4v0 or 1v1v1v1 game this year, I don't think it is going to happen. I think we can count on a 3v3 game like in the previous few years. I was checking out the eligibility criteria for the championship and this is what I found:

If it's a water game, half the teams, including the new ones, probably won't be able to even compete. So I doubt very much that the clue pointed that way.

The opah being a deep-water (very dark area) fish + FIRST sending us cameras leads me to guess that part of the game will have the drivers blind to what's happening in the arena.

You forget, there is usually an easy part of the game, and a hard challenge for the veteran teams. It would be possible to have a dry portion of the field and a fish-tank portion. :)

If this fish is a red herring, couldn't it just be a smokescreen, something to distract and divert our attention??? Isn't that also what a red herring is? We were talking about that at our team meeting the other day, and I wasn't sure if someone has said this already, but they probably have :)

I don't think this hint is a diversion or a smoke screen. If you go back and do a search for the official hints of past years, you can see that those hints garnered a lot of scrutiny, observations, opinions, and guesses. Some were dead on.

You will also observe that hint #1 doesn't go with hint #2 (and so on) on first glance but that sometimes - folks have put things together nicely and gotten close to guessing the game, the element, and the name of the game.

Also, it is great great fun to make as many plays in one move as possible - so since this is a guessing game, I'm guessing the GDC made as many possible moves as they could with this fish/hint. That is only a guess on my part but we are dealing with smart people who seem to delight in keeping teams in FIRST and anyone else who enjoys a good puzzle/game - on our toes and guessing.
