gyro values
hi, im pretty new with the wpi library, some one can tell me which values does the gyro yield and what they are symbolized, i mean, if the gyro is about to 360 degrees - then the value will be zero or 360? , some special values that can screw up my plan.:]

Re: gyro values
You kinda have to understand the gyro works. It detects in rate of change in angle (d/dtheta), so you have to integrate (calculus, yay!) the input data to get the angle.
Now how the method works, (or I think it works, I haven't played around with the new WPI lib) is that it integrates the input data while subtracting the initial voltage (something like 1.25v). To answer your question, lets say you start off. You turn it on and the sensor intializes. The angle is then zero, you turn it counterclock wise, the values goes from 0 to 360 then to 720, etc. etc. but if you turn it on and turn it clockwise, you get values from -1 to -360 then to -720 and onwards. |
Re: gyro values
Before you can use any sensor in software, you need to start with the data sheet for the sensor.
Here is the link to the sensor manual for last years kit: http://www.usfirst.org/uploadedFiles...sor_Manual.pdf For full information determine the manufacturer and the manufacturer's part number for the component of interest and go the manufacturer's website for a complete data sheet. |
Re: gyro values
You shouldn't assume you can use any sentinel values from the gyro angle.
