Microsoft says IE has new Security Issues

Microsoft has issued this Security Advisory.

They first advised about this in Dec 10th. They still don't have an fix. They have work-arounds for the moment.

I know the original post was from 4 days ago, but just so there is no panic, you can get the fix for this security issue by running Windows Update. The patch has been available since at least 12/17.

If you haven't run Windows Update, you should.

Edit: OK, so my math is bad, the post was from 5 days ago ;>

When I read the title of the thread I thought to myself "well, duh!". I think it's a given that anything as complex as Windows will have holes to be found and exploited. And I don't mean complex in a good way.

Are these actually new security issues, or did they just find them? I don't think this has ever been a surprise, it's why so many people use firefox...

No software is perfect. Even FireFox has had security issues(and those are only for 3.x).;)

But Firefox has no where near the amount of security issues IE does. ;)

I suggest you look at the Security Bulletins from both Mozilla and Microsoft. You'll find that over any period of time that FF has had significantly more Critical security issues than IE. This paper is partial to Microsoft, but it includes more information and impartial resources where the information from both sources can be verified.

I prefer FF as a browser (I'm writing this from FF3.0.5), but there is no reason to believe it is more secure.
