Re: Archiving Regionals Video 2009
Does anyone else notice this year we have many fewer regionals archived than we did last year at this time? After 4 weeks there are only 8 regionals Archived (Lansing is available here firstvideoarchive.com).
Are people having issues getting video online or parsing. Either way please post if you are having problems. Many teams use these videos for fund raising and showing parents what FIRST is all about. -Mike AA |

I think most of it is just do to time constraints - I've done FLR and Buckeye (for the years 191 have gone in the past) but this year I have a baby on the way so Josh Goodman had volunteered to parse them this year for me after I recorded the FLR regional. Somehow we'll figure out a system so that this is taken care of just like webcasting in the future. It's getting better but with all the economy slow downs and layoffs there's probably more important things on people's minds lately. |
Re: Archiving Regionals Video 2009
I just uploaded the semifinals and finals from Las Vegas to TBA.
I will probably not get a chance to parse the rest for several weeks. The unparsed video is 7.7 gigs. Anyone want to take a shot at it? |
Re: Archiving Regionals Video 2009
I'm busy this week but if no one finishes it before Sunday I might be able to take it next week.
What would be nice is a server where one person posts unparsed videos and (after approved by mods) anyone can download and parse them up to post back to the server. Mods could then check to make sure it is not spam, then give to TBA or Soap. PS. spam means irrelevant nonsense, I have nothing against team 180, who helped us win two competitions. |
Re: Archiving Regionals Video 2009
i have video for waterloo regional and toronto regional and will be parsing asap (probably starting tomorrow). So hopefully i can get some stuff up soon.

Re: Archiving Regionals Video 2009
Just wondering if u did archived one of the regional(s) would u put them on your teams web site or send it to the blue allience or both?
|
Re: Archiving Regionals Video 2009
il probably do both
|
Re: Archiving Regionals Video 2009
OK, I'm currently uploading the NASA VCU files to The Blue Alliance's FTP, how do I get them to SOAP - or do they download everything directly from TBA (my ISP would certainly appreciate not having to upload everything twice)?

I'm uploading the unparsed Las Vegas to first video archive http://firstvideoarchive.com/firstup...as%20Unparsed/. Since I'm on a relatively slow internet connection, it won't finish until at least Wednesday morning, but the first few files are already up.

Re: Archiving Regionals Video 2009
I've got selected matches from the 2009 Palmetto Regional as detailed in the 2009 Palmetto thread. They're currently huge as they're straight off my camera in AVI format, but I can transcode them to whatever you want. All are 640 x 480.
If someone can PM me with details you can have them all. |
Re: Archiving Regionals Video 2009
What programs do people use to convert .mp4 to .wmv for windows movie maker?
|
Re: Archiving Regionals Video 2009
Does anyone know when the rest of the Connecticut Regional footage will be available? Currently only the first day of matches is up on TBA.

AVIsynth and FFDShow allow meGUI to work with different types of media and should both be installed before meGUI. After installing AVIsynth and ffdshow you can install meGUI. The first time you run meGui you will need to create a worker under the Worker menu. I also recommend checking the "Autostart Queue" under Options->Settings. My parsing procedure is to open the video using the meGUI File->Open. If the video is not directly compatible with meGUI this automatically opens a dialog to create an AVISynth script. I crop here if necessary and then save the script. You can also deinterlace during this step if necessary by setting the source type to Interlaced and checking the Deinterlace box on the "Filters" tab. Next I open AVS Cutter from the Tools menu and select the newly created AVS file. Find the beginning of the desired clip in the window and click "Zone Start" find the end of the clip and click "Zone End", then click Set to set the zone. Repeat for the score if desired. After your desired cuts are set click "Do All and Close" in the non-video window. I am not very familiar with encoder settings so mine might not be ideal, but I set the video to "x264: CE-Baseline". In the "Cuts" section of the audio select the .clt file that corresponds to the video you are editing. For Audio Encoder I use "Nero AAC: NDAAC - iPod - Good". Click AutoEncode and set the Average Bitrate to 1000kbits/s. Then rinse and repeat. |

I'm the weak link in the Peachtree/Lonestar video chain. I've been unexpectedly busy at work, and this week I'll be packing up house for a big move saturday. I should be able to get to things early next week.
I don't think uploading my unparsed video is quite as practical as for some people, as it's stupid high quality so I can do a decent job deinterlacing it and still have something useful to compress down to the TBA format and a set of larger MPGs for teams to use for their own purposes. |
Re: Archiving Regionals Video 2009
Wisconsin has been digitized and will be sent around for parsing this evening. I'm hoping to get all files uploaded by the end of the weekend.

Re: Archiving Regionals Video 2009
Apparently, Colorado School of Mines has an archive of Colorado somewhere, but I can't find it. I'll continue searching, but it is there.
|
Re: Archiving Regionals Video 2009
I appreciate Team 48 for archiving and streaming the regional, but I pray that next season, they don't use FLV. It's a huge hassle. I've yet to find a good program (commercial or free) that can successfully convert the files. Had it been another standard, Buckeye would be up by now.
Anyway, I'm probably just going to upload them somewhere soon. |

Now I know why they came out with Terabyte drives I didn't have time to scale back the quality since I was busy doing WPA / Spare Parts and Field Related work. NJ (Sat) 15.6GB WMV Format ROC (Thu, Fri & Sat) 30GB Total WMV Format If you can scale back the quality you'll def. get a smaller file size but I'm hardly home to really "sit" with it or to just set it and forget it. |

Re: Archiving Regionals Video 2009
Unfortunately due to some hardware issues we were unable to record the Northstar regional at the quality we would have liked. The event was still recorded, but at the same quality it was webcast at. We are also missing Match 19 for some reason.
When I was parsing the videos I also noticed that the audio on quite a few of the matches is extremely out of sync with the video. I worked for a few hours on this, but didn't seem to make any headway so I decided to upload everything as is. At the moment I'm having an issue with uploading it to the TBA FTP, but as soon as I get that squared away I will be sending it all over. |

Re: Archiving Regionals Video 2009
I've got the Buckeye Regionals setup on my own FTP server at home. It runs 24/7 (yea Linux!) so you can pull it overnight or whatever. I've only got 768k upload speeds, so I'd prefer that you get it overnight. Raw FLVs, less than 5GBs, please get them soon. I need the space.
PM me for an account. |

Re: Archiving Regionals Video 2009
Does anybody have sound on the Colorado videos? I don't hear anything on my computer, and I want to make sure that it's not a codec issue before I keep encoding these.
|
Re: Archiving Regionals Video 2009
Sound exists in the videos (at least, it does in Q4 small version). However, it is EXTREMELY quiet. Crank your volume up to the max and see if you can hear the audio. You may want to consider boosting the audio in your encodes...

Re: Archiving Regionals Video 2009

Does anyone have or know where to get video of the Florida Regional qualifying day 2, award ceremonies (day 2) and alliance selections? The Blue Alliance only has Day 1 and the eliminations. Thanks |
Re: Archiving Regionals Video 2009
Hey everyone,
don't forget about this thread. If you could offer your assistance I'm sure everyone who'll be at home and not at Championships would appreciate it. And for the rest of us, of course a great reference in the future. I know I'll need it. |
