Does anyone else notice this year we have many fewer regionals archived than we did last year at this time? After 4 weeks there are only 8 regionals Archived (Lansing is available here firstvideoarchive.com).

Are people having issues getting video online or parsing. Either way please post if you are having problems. Many teams use these videos for fund raising and showing parents what FIRST is all about.

I think most of it is just do to time constraints - I've done FLR and Buckeye (for the years 191 have gone in the past) but this year I have a baby on the way so Josh Goodman had volunteered to parse them this year for me after I recorded the FLR regional. Somehow we'll figure out a system so that this is taken care of just like webcasting in the future.

It's getting better but with all the economy slow downs and layoffs there's probably more important things on people's minds lately.

I just uploaded the semifinals and finals from Las Vegas to TBA.

I will probably not get a chance to parse the rest for several weeks. The unparsed video is 7.7 gigs. Anyone want to take a shot at it?

I'm busy this week but if no one finishes it before Sunday I might be able to take it next week.

What would be nice is a server where one person posts unparsed videos and (after approved by mods) anyone can download and parse them up to post back to the server. Mods could then check to make sure it is not spam, then give to TBA or Soap.

PS. spam means irrelevant nonsense, I have nothing against team 180, who helped us win two competitions.

Well if anyone would like to do this just PM me, I will put up a live directory and PM FTP info. If you DO send video PLEASE put it under a directory with the regional name!

EDIT: Here is the link to random unparsed video http://firstvideoarchive.com/firstupload. Just download the video file then PM me for the upload password

Just upload them to TBA they will get copied over to FVA (firstvideoarchive) which is now what soap points to.

I used avidemux on linux. I'm not sure what people use on windows, but if possible, it would be best to keep it as mp4 and avoid transcoding to wmv.

I use a program called meGUI and two other pieces of software that expand it's video compatibility. Just a warning, it is not the most user friendly software out there.

AVIsynth and FFDShow allow meGUI to work with different types of media and should both be installed before meGUI.

After installing AVIsynth and ffdshow you can install meGUI.

The first time you run meGui you will need to create a worker under the Worker menu. I also recommend checking the "Autostart Queue" under Options->Settings.

My parsing procedure is to open the video using the meGUI File->Open. If the video is not directly compatible with meGUI this automatically opens a dialog to create an AVISynth script. I crop here if necessary and then save the script. You can also deinterlace during this step if necessary by setting the source type to Interlaced and checking the Deinterlace box on the "Filters" tab.

Next I open AVS Cutter from the Tools menu and select the newly created AVS file. Find the beginning of the desired clip in the window and click "Zone Start" find the end of the clip and click "Zone End", then click Set to set the zone. Repeat for the score if desired. After your desired cuts are set click "Do All and Close" in the non-video window.

I am not very familiar with encoder settings so mine might not be ideal, but I set the video to "x264: CE-Baseline". In the "Cuts" section of the audio select the .clt file that corresponds to the video you are editing. For Audio Encoder I use "Nero AAC: NDAAC - iPod - Good".

Click AutoEncode and set the Average Bitrate to 1000kbits/s.

Then rinse and repeat.

Everything's been uploaded, feel free to copy it - especially since TBA doesn't link to awards and such, and many teams like to have copies of it. ;)

I'm the weak link in the Peachtree/Lonestar video chain. I've been unexpectedly busy at work, and this week I'll be packing up house for a big move saturday. I should be able to get to things early next week.

I don't think uploading my unparsed video is quite as practical as for some people, as it's stupid high quality so I can do a decent job deinterlacing it and still have something useful to compress down to the TBA format and a set of larger MPGs for teams to use for their own purposes.

umm big lets leave it at that lol...

Now I know why they came out with Terabyte drives

I didn't have time to scale back the quality since I was busy doing WPA / Spare Parts and Field Related work.

NJ (Sat) 15.6GB WMV Format
ROC (Thu, Fri & Sat) 30GB Total WMV Format

If you can scale back the quality you'll def. get a smaller file size but I'm hardly home to really "sit" with it or to just set it and forget it.

Unfortunately due to some hardware issues we were unable to record the Northstar regional at the quality we would have liked. The event was still recorded, but at the same quality it was webcast at. We are also missing Match 19 for some reason.

When I was parsing the videos I also noticed that the audio on quite a few of the matches is extremely out of sync with the video. I worked for a few hours on this, but didn't seem to make any headway so I decided to upload everything as is.

At the moment I'm having an issue with uploading it to the TBA FTP, but as soon as I get that squared away I will be sending it all over.

I've got the Buckeye Regionals setup on my own FTP server at home. It runs 24/7 (yea Linux!) so you can pull it overnight or whatever. I've only got 768k upload speeds, so I'd prefer that you get it overnight. Raw FLVs, less than 5GBs, please get them soon. I need the space.

Ok, This was the link I was refering to in my earlier post. Here's what needs to be done to these video's before they can be put on TBA:1. Rename into XX_## where XX is event name and ## is match number. 2. Light parsing, it doesn't include the anouncer intoduction, but it begins shortly before the acual play starts, Also it has the Moon Rock emptying and counting at the end. 3.(general) This is missing a few matches in the middle.

And unfortunatly I can't do this due to time and computational restraints.

Sound exists in the videos (at least, it does in Q4 small version). However, it is EXTREMELY quiet. Crank your volume up to the max and see if you can hear the audio. You may want to consider boosting the audio in your encodes...

Thats awesome. I just thought about it this way, if you're not going to be doing much in Atlanta and want to help out, why not help the folks that give you gameday and some of the resources to watch robots when we can't make it to an event. I'm sure everyone who unfortunately will not be making the trip to Atlanta will be happy to know they can have the same benefits.
