Could you take over a TiVO and do the recording?

Re: Archiving Regionals Video 2009

Is there any possibility of people that will be taping/recording the matches to maybe have a static camera filming the entire field? The filming done by first is almost impossible to tell what's going on everywhere, and it'll film robots picking up balls by themselves off in a corner, while robots are dumbing and playing the game in another.

For learning purposes it'd be a lot more helpful to be able to watch the entire field. But I know it might be too much to ask.

Thanks!

It's always possible, and there are a few teams that do this, but it's a much larger time and equipment commitment. There's owning or buying the camera itself, then there's the need to set it up in a suitable location, if there is one. Then someone has to babysit the camera for most of the regional, as you can't count on it not walking off, or not being sat in front of. Plus you'd probably still want to record the standard feed as well, as it covers the ceremonies much better and has much better audio.

So it's not impossible.... Just highly annoying. Things would be easier if FIRST just set up an overview camera for webcasts and things and split that feed off for teams to record as well. Or if they hired camera people over the age of 18, who know you can't make a shot more exciting by rapidly zooming in and out or rolling the camera side to side.

I am willing to try to capture the Palmetto Regional but I don't have time to split the video into matches so I would be able to supply someone with the raw video files. For me to do this I need some help from someone that knows the format for the captured video. I use VLC to capture but I don't know the correct video and audio setting (codec) for capture.

Someone's going to need to take Buckeye. I just got busy unexpectedly, and won't be able to work on the video for some time.

Will be uploading to TBA soon. 320p and 720p FLVs courtesy of Team 48.

Still no sign of it on TBA (The Blue Alliance)

245 will be archiving the Kettering District in Michigan. Not sure if we'll be able to cut it up or not.

Does anyone need help parsing/encoding video. I don't know if its just me but there seems to be a surprising lack of TechnoKat footage. I'm sure many scouting teams would like to see more video up so if there is anything I can do to help expedite the process, let me know...

I've been unexpectedly busy and the encoding/compressing is taking a little longer than expected, but I'm going to try to get all of the videos uploaded by the end of this week.

Re: Archiving Regionals Video 2009

I will have Wisconsin recorded this weekend. I may need some help parsing, or it may take some time. Unfortunately, it will be coming in on VHS tape since my computers are out of commission (hence the delay in me signing up to record). I can transfer to my computer once I get the tapes home, but the computer going to the regional just isn't going to happen at this point...
