The video on their page says something about FRC 2037? Are they just a re-registered team with a new number?
Anyone know any details of that, or were they just partnered with them in a way (ie: FRC2037 mentoring them)?

Their kit might already be in Germany, just supervised by a FIRST official. This is how it's done in Israel.

There have been teams from UK and Netherlands in the previous years, so i would assume they have the same 'rules' applied.

They would profit from any sponsor possible - money is money, and they need a lot of it if they are to make it to the Las Vegas regional.

Over the past 3 years, team 1884 have received their KoP a week late which is annoying. I believe this was the case for all the UK teams. This year our team will be holding the first ever UK Kickoff event thanks to our new mentor Jeff Wetzel. The 3 UK teams will receive their KoP on Kickoff which is brilliant.:D

I believe that the Netherlands team is mentoring the German team as it says they are mentoring on their information page. They are also both going to Las Vegas regional.

Wiesbaden is the location of a major US Army base, which explains the sponsors.

If you read one of their documents. The school is for children of American military and civilian personel. So it's really an American-German team.

That's pretty awesome! It's still great, because clearly these children are really into FIRST, and that could possibly make an impact to natives in the surrounding areas.

Definitely. All we need is a start. So...is BMW gonna sponsor the native German teams or is Siemens?:D So many possible sponsors...

Figured I'd Unveil the Mist surrounding us back here in germany :D

If there are any questions about us then feel free to ask them here.
First and foremost, My name is Nick, And Yes, Wiesbaden is an American Military Base located in germany.

Our team is 3011 and team 2037 is pretty much the team thats going to show us the ropes. It is our first year in the program. And yes again. It does cost us a lot more,

One could say that we have an assload more work to do than the people in the states when bulding our robot because we use both the metric system and pay twice for all materials bought and shipped from the states. Flat tips are predominant in europe so its annoying working with drills and etc...
(Meaning, little use of phillips)

Something really cool is that a foreign exchange student that we had in 2007 is working on building the first ever, all-German FRC team. He supposedly all ready has sponsors too! I'm excited about that because it's time to push our way into more countries!

Personally, I'd suggest Torx or Hex socket (Allen) over Phillips anyway. I'm sure one or the other is available in Europe...
As for the Metric system, count your blessings. Once you're used to it, it actually makes much more sense.

Two DoDDS-E schools will compete in the Las Vega Regional FIRST Robotics Contest. In January, each high school was given a box of raw materials and six weeks to engineer and construct a sophisticated robot to play a game of moon ball (Lunacy). This is a huge event attracting tens of thousands of students from around the world. We’re the only teams competing from Germany and Belgium and there is over $9 million in scholarships at stake. This is not a DoDDS sponsored event and we had to raise all funds and jump through a lot of necessary hoops to participate. That’s a lot of chilidogs and community support my friend and we really appreciate it!

Our team numbers are 2037 and 3011 and you can watch us in action using your very own computer. So… if you think 120 lb robots smashing into each other (to the sound of loud rock music) might amuse you - - -

Webcasts: You can view the practice, seed, and final rounds of the competition via webcast at
http://robotics.nasa.gov/events/2009...asts.php#week5

Click on the Las Vegas Regional (March 26th thru the 28th)
• Thursday – 1000 to 1700 Pacific Time (Practice)
• Friday – 0900 to 1630 Pacific Time (Seeding)
• Saturday – 0930 to 1615 Pacific Time (Finals)

To learn more about our team you can visit our website. While you’re there – Wish us well by posting an entry on our Blog.
