FRCLabVIEWUpdate2.0.zip is on NI site.

Did I sleep through the announcement of Update2.0?

FRCLabVIEWUpdate2.0.zip is posted on NI, is it good to go?
Has anyone tried it?

I hadn't heard about it yet. How did you stumble across it? What bothers me is that it looks like it was made available in November, yet there's been no obvious statement from anyone official that it even exists.

The download process I went through for the first update required me to provide my email address. I guess I assumed that the point of doing that would be so that I would receive announcements of updates like this.

I won't be able to install it until next week at the earliest. If anyone does try it before then, I'd like to know whether it requires an internet connection to complete the process. It's a lot less convenient to bring the team's programming computer to the update rather than the other way around, but it can be done if necessary.

There had been comments that an update was coming early this week, so I clicked on the update link and found 2.0.

The URL stayed the same from the first to the second update, so all links now point to the second update. Someone had to notice sooner or later :P

I'm pretty sure it's safe to install, but we'll probably hear from FIRST in a few hours/days?

From the README_FRC.html file included with this distribution:

Quote:

This file contains information to introduce you to the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Software 2009 Update 2. The FRC Software Update 2 is a mandatory update to the FIRST Robotics Competition Software 2009 release...
Sound to be legitimate to me.

Also, it looks like we need to download a new image for the cRio. Additional features and changes are included.

Quote:

New Features and Changes
The LabVIEW portion of the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Software 2009 Update 2 includes the following new features:

The Dashboard Main VI in the FRC dashboard project has an updated analog data display, and the Dashboard Main VI now logs the history of the User Data you receive from the robot. Click the FRC Dashboard Project link in the Getting Started window to create a new FRC dashboard project. Refer to the FRC Dashboard Project section of Chapter 4, Using the FRC Framework, of the LabVIEW Robotics Programming Guide for the FIRST Robotics Competition for more information about using the FRC dashboard project.

Use the Ultrasonic VIs to measure the distance between an ultrasonic sensor on the robot and the closest object in front of the sensor. Refer to the LabVIEW Help, available by selecting Help»Search the LabVIEW Help, for more information about the Ultrasonic VIs.

A new image for the CompactRIO device is available. Download the FRC_2009_v7.zip image to the CompactRIO device by selecting Tools»CompactRIO Imaging Tool to launch the CompactRIO Imaging Tool dialog box and selecting FRC_2009_v7.zip from the Select Image list. Refer to Chapter 3, Configuring the Camera and the CompactRIO Device, of the LabVIEW Robotics Programming Guide for the FIRST Robotics Competition for more information about using the CompactRIO Imaging Tool.
The following issues exist in the LabVIEW portion of the FIRST Robotics Competition software when you upgrade from the Update 1 or earlier release.

FRC dashboard projects you created in previous versions of the FIRST Robotics Competition software are no longer compatible with the dashboard data the FRC robot sends to the host computer. You must create a new FRC dashboard project by clicking the FRC Dashboard Project link in the Getting Started window.

No Internet connect was used in the installation of this update.
Which makes sense because we're on our private 10.x.x.x network.
Having to have two networks active would really limit the machines this could be installed from.

We're no longer offered the choice of robot # in the FRC cRIO Imaging Tool, and installation of the update also removed older cRIO update files.

To the best of my knowledge (Beta Forums) Currently the DS does not support more than one robot. This feature was temporarily removed until that feature is implemented for the DS

Other than creating new Dashboard projects, do we need to create new robot frameworks? Are there changes to RobotMain.vi or any of its subvi's?

The way the dashboard VIs are called in RobotMain changed.

I was able to run the old project without any changes. I did end up starting over, though. Every time we start over, it gives us a chance to restructure the code better. I may not want to do that later, but pre-kickoff is the perfect time to do things like that.

Re: FRCLabVIEWUpdate2.0.zip is on NI site.

I don't see anything in the high-level framework for the cRIO side that changed.
You might want to rebuild your cRIO projects too and redeploy them. The Update changes will be pulled in as dependencies, but they are already resident on the cRIO.

The developer's have been very busy...
A bunch of updates to the FPGA and low-level dependencies in the vi.lib: Watchdog, Victor, Jaguar, Solenoid, Serve, Relay, RobotDrive, PWM, MotorControl, Joystick, Encoder, DigitalModule, Camera, AnalogModule, AnalogChannel.

Is it necessary to install update 1 before installing update 2? More generally (assuming there will be at least an update 3), do you need to install all the updates, in order, or can you just skip to the end and only install the latest updated?

The answer is in the description of the download:

...You do not have to install the first update in order to install this update. This update incorporates the changes from the first update.

Image will not take. We received error 56. Lost the IP. Had to use Ethernet Device to put IP back in. Any ideas on how to load new image?
Thanks,
