Team Songs?
 

Some of us, including myself, love music just as much as we love FIRST, right? So do any teams around here have a team song? If you don't, what would you want your theme song to be?

I'd want 2046 to use the song Heroes of Our Time by Dragonforce.

Though it hasn't been used much for a few years, 188 (Woburn Robotics) has one: The Blizzard Theme Song.

It was composed by a team member (Justin Chow) and his band (Triplicate). Vocals are by Eric Akaoka (who was previously on the team).

I'm pretty sure 968's is "We Will Rock You".

330 doesn't really have one, though we'll take any Beach Boys song for some reason.

Our team has an unofficial song, "Kryptonite" (3 Doors Down). Some younger siblings also adapted the lyrics from Fergie's "Fergalicious" into our own song, "Uberlicious".

We've affectionately given some of our robots unofficial theme songs- our 2007 robot, Dynamite, has the theme "TNT" (ACDC), and our 2008 robot, Lightning, has the theme "Greased Lightning" (from Grease.)


And I second Koko Ed's idea for 1902.

We changed "We Will Rock You" to "We're All Gearheads"....lyrics are on our website (http://gpgearheads.org/82). Whenever "We Will Rock You" starts playing, I start accidentally singing our version, even though I don't think we've ever sang it as a team since I joined last year. (Well, my friend and I do on our own, but it's not quite the same thing o.O)

We made one up one cold regional morning, it goes to the song Farmer in the Dell:

1675, 1675, The Ultimate Protection Squad, Team 1675.
Rufus King and Tech, Rufus King and Tech, traditionally sub-rival schools, Rufus King and Tech.

We also did a few other songs, I don't remember them all >_<

ok- so last year we had the robot 'hammertime'. therefore, our song had to be mc hammer's "cant touch this". ( because of when he says 'Stop! hammer time.") it is soo perfect. :)

Last year 1678 was obsessed with "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air", to the point where we ended up naming our robot "the rarecab" and getting a mirror and some dice to stick on the plexiglass barrier when driving:D :D Don't know what our song will be this year.

The students on the team like SPAM by Wierd Al Yankovich. Though my personal favorite is SPAM by Saving Ferris.

I suppose 2815's is, by default, Strauss' Also sprach Zarathustra, perhaps better known to most as the theme from 2001: A Space Odyssey. Those in South Carolina will associate it more with the entrance music of the sports teams of the University of South Carolina, where it is quite effective at getting a 80,250-person crowd to come unglued. (Somewhere between here and Charlotte, about two hours north, the piece becomes more associated with another fixture in sports...but that's neither here nor there.)

For the record, team 16 is the only team I know of with a song actually written about their team.

3 that fit our team theme:

Hey Hey Were the Monkeys!
We had lots of fun singing this at last years regional while doing the monkey walk around the pit area :p
Until someone confused this with the Laverne and Shirley walk :rolleyes:

And of course, the I Am Ninja Theme song!

Then there are our personal team songs that are really awesome (Just like our team :D )!

Let It Rock by Kevin Rudolf (Censored version of course)

and last but not least, Live Your Life by T.I. and Rihanna

The last 2 are just ones we listen to around the shop, but stay tuned for a few of them in the upcoming team video ;)

ok Winnovation has had two songs playing in their shop for quite some time. I think our songs are "be a man" from mulan and or "Prince Ali" from Aladdin. now we have yet to decide. Also the programmers have the bud light presents real american heros things going in their room forever. :cool:

After Atlanta last year, we adopted Bohiemian Rhaspody by Queen. At the team social, me, along with three other members of the team sang the song for karoke and put on one hell of a show. After going threw a few acts of people just kinda getting meh reactions, everyone busted out their cell phones and then we got a 40 person standing ovataion from the sheer rediculousness of it, from Austin's guitar solo, to my pinano and high notes(and i sing bass!), to the group handbanging session ala Wayne's World

Very much so. Kryptonite by Three Doors Down has always been our theme song. Although we have always tried to get it played during our matches (which they never let us do), it randomly was played during one match at LSR in 2005. Of course, we commented on the coincidence afterward to the driver, who had to watch a video of the match in order to realize that we weren't kidding him. (He was a little too focused on the competition.)

Our official team song (anthem?) is Don't Stop Believin' by Journey... its sung on every bus ride home from a competition... and if you dont know the words, you learn them (its played a lot...)... here's two great examples of why its our song...

Same here guys, it was epic when they played it @ Kettering. it was just after we made it back to pits after a close match that we didn't know the score for. (We won :cool: it was amazing)

Team 66 is obviously "(Get Your Kicks On) Route 66"

In atlanta the Anouncer actually introduced us by saying "Come and get your kicks with Team 66"

Team 4's song was Don't Stop Believin' as well. It was kinda coincidental because every time we ran or attended an event, it would play out of something random, like a Janitor's boombox while we took down the field. Everyone sang to the song including our mentor. It was also very fitting in 2006 when our robot decided to be fashionably late in GTR and we pulled a regional win even with being dead last place in LA.

Kyle already put up what 1646's song is so I'm not going to repeat that.

Well, for team 67, there is of course, "Feeling HOT, HOT, HOT..." lol

But this year we have a few giant Journey fans that blast "Don't Stop Believing" on the bus...and at the lansing regional we got the whole stadium to sing along and dance when the DJ put it on. So I think that would have to be our song for this year :D

A Robotics song produced by a 610 student. He performed it live at our grade 11 Tech Design final exam, which was an in-house robotics tournament.

Unfortunately team 1094 doesn't have a song, but if we did have a theme I would like to have the McDonald's song "Gimme that Filet-O-Fish" because it fits our team name. We actually have that fish thats sings, too bad it's not a longer song :)

Team RUSH has a cheer for Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes.

Also, we like to shuffle. (Party Rock by LMFAO)

I actually did a mashup of seven nation army, sandstorm, party rock and some sound effects... It was pretty cool. :)
