FRC Resources CD

Hi, I'm make "2009 FRC Resources CDs" for my team, basically its a little CD that we're going to give out on Kickoff day to avoid problems like FIRST's server crawling to a halt and people not being able to find something.

Right now I have the 2009 Manuals, the (downloadable) Control System doc, a PDF I made with the game hints, and a readme that tells about the contens of the CD, some stuff about our team, and a list of helpful links (below.)

However, this only totals 20.9MB, which would kinda be a waste of a 700MB CD, so I thought I'd come here for suggestions on what else I should put into it. Specifically, anything that would help our rookies.

Thank you for your time!

BTW> Here are the helpful links that I have in the readme, so if you have any ideas on what should be added to that, let me know!

Remember that they are handing this out on Kickoff Day. Show me a team that has a full prototype of their robot on Kickoff day and I'll give you lots and lots of Krispy Kreme:cool:

If they want pictures of prototype bases then they already have Chief Delphi.

I would suggest that you go to FIRST's rookie and team support page

http://usfirst.org/community/frc/content.aspx?id=478 or just include that link

The threads idea sounds good!

If he can't come up with a picture, can I have the Krispy Kreme? Actually, I think he meant from previous years.

Prototypes from previous years can all be found on CD. I suggest that you just add into the Read Me file that Chief Delphi is a resource where you can search for prototypes and previous years' robots. Suggest some specific teams if you want. But don't think that including just a few random prototypes would help. Just let teams know what types of things Chief Delphi can be used for rather than presenting them with some odd number of pictures that they may not find usefull.

Show the teams how to "fish," rather than handing them over a meal.

Also add a link to Bill's Blog, and add a couple articles from http://www.firstnemo.org in it too. Those are REALLY useful, especially for rookie teams.

I can't believe I forgot Bill's Blog! Ooh, I hadn't seen that NEMO website before, it has some nice articles on it!

Up to 32.2MB! Keep the ideas flowing!

BTW> I forgot to mention, if you guys think it'd be usefull, I'll upload the completed ISO when I am done. (Tomorrow at 6:00 Central Time)

I would love to have the ISO to burn for rookies at my Kickoff. Would you post what you have sometime today(Friday)?

Ok, I'll remember to upload it once I am finished. (The deadline for my team to send me stuff for it is 6:00 PM Central Time, so I will upload it then.)

BTW> I will also upload the CD Labels so you can print them on to blank CD labels (I'm using Avery 8699, with the recomended template, 5931.)

Ok, I'm uploading now! It will take a while though, it is fairly large. 230MB, we have a sponsor hosting it for us.

Very nice. This should help a lot of teams out, young and old.

This was totally my idea.

But hey, the more people doing it, the better!
...I ought to zip off to Walmart and buy some jewel cases; my spindle of discs is lacking.
