RAM Upgrade Scheduled

We are going to get another 2GB of RAM installed in our server within an hour or two which should speed up things a bit. Stay tuned -- and if the site isn't responding for a few minutes, you'll know why.

-- UPDATE -- should be better now.

-- UPDATE 2 -- once I fix the mysql config to make better use of the RAM, performance should increase a bit more too.

Brandon, I thought the server had been updated fall of 2007? Did we suddenly grow that much today?

You mean you didn't realize the ridiculously slow crawl that the site was doing today? :)

Good to know, Brandon. I'll be sending a few bucks pretty soon. Keep up the good work!

Given that RAM is dirt cheap right now I am not surprised. You can pick up 2gigs of PC2-5300 ECC Unbuffered (the kind we use in Purdue FIRST's server) for under $30.

I got on briefly this afternoon but after a few moments CD just froze up on me or would just partially load. Much better now! :)

Brandon,
have you thought of temporalily shutting off some of the extra features like you did in the past to help take the load off the server and bandwidth?

Brandon,
Thank you for the work you put into the website to keep it going for the CD community. You deserve a cookie.
