VMWare Fusion and 2009 Software

Running 10.5.6 Leopard on a Macbook C2D.. After using WINE+Toolchain for the past 2 years, I just broke down and figured a few extra gigabytes of HD space were worth using for the ease of use (and support from the community!) I will report back (updating post), as i install and test the software through a Windows XP SP3 virtual machine on VMWare Fusion 2.0.1

Edit 1: It seems to have installed all software without any problems. I think that is the first time I have ever said that about any windows development environment setup. The licensing seems to have worked fine, all of the "secure internet" registrations worked as they should.

In case anybody is interested, my VM image is now 6.1GB.. That's Windows XP + Everything on the DVDs.

I've had good success running the networking stuff. The one issue I've had is licensing. Labview and the Autodesk software licenses based on hardware, so every time I run software in a VM I have to reauthorize it.

cool! one thing which did make me laugh a little:
Installation of Windows: ~25 Minutes
Installation of fancy text editors [projected]: 2 hours :P

I actually imaged the DVDs on to my hard drive first to make the installation go a bit faster. I suppose it isn't an accurate comparison, but it was faster than the install on my desktop.

See http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=70449. We're making good progress on the no-VM-needed front.
