Trailer Hitch

Can any perimeter edge of the robot be used for the trailer hitch?

Re: Trailer Hitch

yes it can. The rule just states that it needs to be one the outside if i remember correctly. I do not have an exact rule number I will look it up when i get home.

Now something that came up in a discussion. Does the trailer hitch count in the 28 x 38 dimentions?

No. See the Updates. However, it counts against the uncovered area of the Bumper Perimeter.

quick tidbit... we had some engineers come in from bayshore systems... and they said that it would add friction and weight by lowering the trailer hitch to the minimum height that it is allowed

While I agree with this prediction, I don't understand how it is actionable for FRC2009, given the rules:

Quote:

The horizontal center line of the Trailer Hitch must be 2-13/16 inches above the floor.

Re: Trailer Hitch

Any idea how to make a bracket for a trailer hitch?

Re: Trailer Hitch

Let's see...
  • Have your frame be at the right height
  • Use a piece of aluminum angle
  • Put a plate vertically on the bumper perimeter to put the hitch at the right height
Or you could always get creative.
