Kit Of Parts woes

Has anyone else had the problems with the KOP that we have? When we picked up the KOP in Manchester on Saturday, we were told that the AM-Kit (the C-Chassis etc.) was missing, and that it would be delivered on Thursday. When we inventoried the KOP, we found a few things missing (nothing that unusual), including the ToughBox transmissions, Slick Wheels, bearings, etc. Since most of these were listed in the KOP Checklist as part of the AM-Kit, I called FIRST directly, and asked if I should include the AM-Kit parts in the TIMS Missing Parts Request. The nice person at FIRST told me not to, because those parts are already on their way.

UPS just delivered a box (yeah, a day early!). Unfortunately, it was just the C-Chassis, NOT the ToughBoxes, Slick Wheels, or bearings. I called FIRST back, and was told that since I had already submitted the TIMS request, I had to send an EMail requesting "more" stuff, and that it would be handled by hand.

Now, as an aside, on Saturday I ordered 6 Slick Wheels from AndyMark; those were in the C-Chassis that arrived today (AM is amazing how they mated the two requests!), so we could build a bot and trailer. But without trannys, we don't have anything to hook the motors up to.

Anyone else with these kinds of woes, or does Murphy just like us better? Any suggestions on how to deal with this?

Are the toughboxes different from last year's, other than the encoder mount availability? If not, use last year's for basic prototyping. (If you still have them, of course.)

Wow! How did the packer of the boxes miss all of these items or did FIRST just run out of them? We are usually missing a couple of small items but this year everything was perfect :D

Thomas,

Our kit was perfect. You need to take this up with FIRST. I would FAX them your checklist and follow up simultaneously with a phone call...

Our kit is still in New Hampshire awaiting it's journey to the UK. Luckily we should have our spare rover wheels we ordered from AM tomorrow :D

i heard of getting 2 gyros or 2 accelerometers and not one of the other but nothing this extreme. hopefuly it doesn't ruin your build too much and hopefully murphy will be off your case at competition

Update: The very nice people at FIRST just called me at home with the following news: AndyMark has been contacted, and the missing parts will be overnighted.

Isn't it great that Gracious Professionalism isn't just for the students?
