<G21> penalizes the PS for throwing an Empty Cell over the Outpost shield.

<G21> says, "Introducing EMPTY CELLS - Empty Cells enter the Crater when the Payload Specialist passes the Empty Cell through the payload port in the Outpost Shield, or over the Alliance Station Wall from the Fueling Station. Empty Cells shall not enter the Crater through any other means (e.g. an Empty Cell can not be thrown over the Outpost shield and into the Crater)..."

So we've established that the PS in the Outpost can only introduce Empty Cells through the port, but nowhere does it say that the robot has to be on the other side of the port receiving the Empty Cell. I'm assuming this is allowed, then, unless anyone can find a restriction somewhere else in the game rules...

Nowhere does it say that the Payload Specialist in the Fueling Station isn't allowed to throw Empty Cells over the Alliance Wall. If, as an example, an alliance has a Super Cell taken away, the Empty Cell could still be scored by a Payload Specialist if the Outpost PS gives the EC to the robot, the robot takes it to the PS in the FS, and the FSPS throws it over the AW to the trailer of an OR, IMHO and IIRC.

I am fairly certain that the outpost will not receive more balls at any point within the round. Balls will be returned to the fuel station only.

There is a penalty if the empty cell is thrown over the wall, so the only way for an empty cell to be scored is if a robot picks it up from the ground and then scores it into a trailer.

Actually, per G21, it is NOT a penalty for the PS at the fueling station to re-enter the empty cell onto the field. It is only illegal to throw them over the OUTPOST wall.

Very well, I stand corrected.

At Boston, they didn't take away Super Cells, they'd just take away an empty cell. So this idea would be out the window.

Huh. It's supposed to be applied to whoever gets the <G14>. At L.A., they were pretty good about if you get the penalty, you lose the cell(s) and not your partner, wherever you happen to be.

I've seen one instance of a team's trailer being close enough to a wall that an empty cell was scored by pushing it through the hole into the trailer.

I was under the impression that you could choose which cells you lost in a penalty (in which case it would be beneficial to lose an empty cell, then a supercell, alternating)

Correct on both counts.

Here's a bad day for you: a robot didn't show up, and the trailer was the one by the outpost. EVERY moon rock from the outpost went in, and then all four of the empty cells went in through the hole. 48 points. Little effort. Is this what YOU want to have happen to YOU?

Disclaimer: I don't make the rules. This is just my interpretation. I might be wrong.

If you do throw an empty cell into a trailer it must be through the hole and can not be throw over the outpost sheild. Otherwise a penalty will be incurred and your will have gained -8 points for your alliance.

Sorry but thay disagreed at my regional. If you lose a cell on account of G14 it is where your payload specialist is. That is why if a finals alliance loses a supercell they will lose one at each station and lose 2 at each station for a triple. Also, your payload specialist must give the moon rocks to begin in the your robot for the start of the match. I'm not saying I like or dislike the rules I just follow and work with them.

Aye, but you CAN choose which cells you lose. Where do you put your PS? For that is where the cells vanish from.

And, make sure your PS knows what the colored bars on the display mean. Yellow means you lose 1 cell. Orange, 2 cells. There was a PS at the regional I went to who wanted the Empty Cells that had been removed from the Outpost back. He apparently did not remember <G14>, and how it applied. (Another PS, on finding that his team had a <G14>, apparently told his Commander, "Don't do that again.")
